Apparently it's dead athlete week for me on Twitter. Not to steal @lisco_2000 's lane (she is working on a book on the topic), but it is so moving/sad when people at height of physical powers die.

Missed this the first time around: didn't know he had a daughter. So touching.
“I think he would’ve been such a changemaker beyond the football field. I think he would’ve changed my perspective in life...” - Jackie Taylor shares her thoughts on her late father Sean Taylor. Jackie Taylor isn’t just freshman middle hitter for @UNCVolleyball . She’s the daughter of a legend. A clumsy kid, Jackie didn’t even try sports until she was a teenager. Even then, she was no Sean Taylor. Through hard work, dedication, & perseverance she led Gulliver prep to its first ever State Championship as her dad did for their football program. Jackie tells @Realrclark25 @FredTaylorMade @OfficialCrowder why she chose UNC, & wears her father’s famed #21. She is focused on her own legacy, but knows she carriers on her father’s as well. She’s comfortable representing Sean in front of massive crowds, & even shared a quote from one of his playbooks with the Gulliver prep faithful when the football field was dedicated to him. She wishes her & her dad had a life together, but realizes how blessed she is to have grown up with her siblings, her mom, & mom’s husband who she calls “dad” in a house full of love. Ryan, a close friend to Sean and teammates reminisces with Chan and Fred as the 3 guys share memories, laughs, tears, & hugs with Jackie about her dad. So, grab your tissues because this one is a tear jerker. youtu.be/zcLkpXfLqIA Your favorite trio and girl-dads sit with a true Gamechanger today, as we Pivot with “Little” Jackie Taylor. I have been holding my tongue about something that happened during the Ohio gubernatorial race. I refused to speak while the election was underway because I did not want my words mistaken for an attempt to influence anyone’s vote. But now that the election is over, I have something to say. For nearly twenty years, my ministry has taken me among the homeless, the abused, the exploited, and the forgotten. I have sat with victims of sexual violence and witnessed the lifelong wounds of childhood trauma. What Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign did to Amy Acton was among the most morally repulsive things I have witnessed in American politics. They took a woman whose stepfather was indicted for raping her when she was twelve years old and featured her mother, from whom she had been estranged for nearly fifty years, in a political advertisement attacking her credibility. The advertisement challenged Acton’s account of her childhood without mentioning the sexual abuse allegations or the circumstances of that estrangement. When people expressed their horror, the campaign defended it. Imagine examining another person’s childhood suffering and fractured family relationships, then deciding those wounds might help win an election. Anyone who has worked with survivors of childhood sexual abuse understands the painful realities of denial, betrayal, shame, and estrangement. A child growing into a successful adult does not erase what happened. Nor does a parent’s denial make that suffering disappear. I find it equally disturbing that an elderly mother, whom Acton herself described as unwell, was brought into this spectacle. Whatever her own struggles or responsibility for the past, exploiting that fractured relationship was grotesque. To everyone who defended this, consider the message you sent to survivors. To the young woman whose family refuses to believe her. To the man who has carried the shame of childhood abuse for forty years. To the frightened child who has yet to tell anyone. What did you teach them about the value of their suffering? I am a priest. I believe in repentance, forgiveness, and redemption. But none of those things requires me to pretend that deliberate cruelty is anything less than a grave moral failure. Your political allegiance does not absolve you of moral responsibility. You do not get to set aside your conscience during an election and retrieve it afterward. If your loyalty requires you to defend the exploitation of a childhood sexual abuse survivor, your loyalty has become an idol. And if your conscience cannot recognize the wrong here, examine what political tribalism has done to it. This is not about Republicans or Democrats. We have a choice as a people: continue excusing cruelty from our preferred political camp, or summon the courage to condemn it wherever it appears. Amy Acton deserved better. Every survivor who watched this unfold deserved better. And God help us if we have reached the point where winning an election matters more than protecting the dignity of a wounded human being.

Kalshi says customers only bet against each other, so the company doesn’t profit when people lose. New York’s attorney general say on its popular parlays, Kalshi is usually the ones taking the other side, meaning they still make money when customers lose.
Replying to @WALLACHLEGAL
On Kalshi “combo” bets, the NY AG alleges, the other side is not another ordinary user: it is either Kalshi’s in-house market maker, Kalshi Trading, or one of the platform’s approved market makers.

Solid tech what if. Former Blockbuster CEO Jim Keyes says that Google proposed a JV on streaming project in 2010 to take on Netflix . YouTube handled free while Blockbuster streamed paid Hollywood content (the studios were getting pissed that users were uploading their IP on YouTube). Blockbuster’s board signed the deal but Google’s board ended up walking because a Blockbuster bankruptcy rumor started circulating in press. *** Full interview here: youtu.be/i2x-lMJE5zI?si=NxOb…

Really good thoughts. I feel like we havent appreciated enough how much free/almost free high quality knowledge and advice we have had access to, and it is all starting to disappear behind paywalls/coaching/etc. Going to be harder to improve/learn without $.
Random: As someone that likes to learn things and how to do certain things and knowing that the knowledge likely can/will come from another person, I struggle with the concept of knowledge for sale. Maybe it’s all relative? But I guess if giving your knowledge costs you time…

Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol says a use case of AI will be to create "fast pass" at the drive-thru. The app recognizes your car…the barista confirms and its paid: “One of the things that's pretty unique about our drive-thru experience is a lot of our baristas and customers know each other through the order board. I want that connection and that human-to-human experience to get even stronger. So what we're going to do with the AI tools is really going to be behind the scenes to help with order accuracy and inputting your order quicker. The other thing that I think is really exciting is we're going to have almost like the ability to have like a fast pass for the drive-thru. When you pull up to the drive-thru, if you're in our app, it will recognize you. It'll show the order that you placed historically, so it's already right up there. The barista will be like, 'Brian, is it the usual?' You'll be like, 'Yes.' Great. It's paid. Now you're off to the window to pick up your drink and out you go. It'll be the fastest drive-thru experience you can have. We haven't named it yet, but I feel like this is going to be a fast pass.”
