Replying to @mdbelbis
@mdbelbis (@HKPurdue) et al.tested their hypothesis that acute selective COX-2 inhibition would impair cardiorespiratory and skeletal muscle microvascular responses from rest to exercise, thereby reducing exercise tolerance.

I hope for freedom for future generations, freedom to doubt, to develop, to continue the adventure of finding out new ways of doing things, of solving problems.

Students don't need a perfect teacher. Students need a happy teacher, who's gonna make them excited to come to school and grow a love for learning.
It was another memorable ACSM Annual Meeting talking science and catching up with colleagues and friends. I had the excellent opportunity to present some of my doctoral work on the effects of heat therapy in HFpEF. See everyone next year in Atlanta!

Congrats to two of my undergraduate research assistants, Monica Alcantara (BS Health Science) and Ivan Leon (BS Biology), for graduating this past weekend!
I will miss them in the lab, but I know they will continue to do amazing and meaningful work within the science community!
Special props to 2 of my students, Larissa Barreto and Julieta Sanchez, for their excellent panel discussion as the first Fellows in the Student Partners in Academic Research and Knowledge (SPARK) Program. It has been an absolute pleasure to witness them and the program grow.
Props to my students for participating in the AU Research Symposium. They have worked hard planning and executing multiple research projects. Much of science is the collaborations you make, and I’m grateful to be surrounded by brilliant young minds who continue to learn with me.

Biological sex is a primary determinant of athletic performance because of fundamental sex differences in anatomy and physiology dictated by sex chromosomes and sex hormones.

Every day I am in awe of international students. Doing a PhD in your native language and home country is hard. Doing it in a non-native language, in a different country and different culture is so much harder. You are not stupid. You are legends.
