[Tesla Semi catches fire on I-880 in Hayward, CA]
- On Oct 27, around 5:35–5:45 p.m. local time, a Tesla Semi's lithium-ion battery caught fire in the southbound lanes of I-880 near Route 92 in Hayward.
- The California Highway Patrol (CHP) closed both directions due to the risk of hazardous chemical smoke. Northbound reopened at about 8:40 p.m.
- CHP said the battery fire could burn for 15–18 hours, and southbound would stay closed until it was out and the truck was safe to remove.
- No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved. The driver said the truck simply caught fire. The cause is under investigation.

⚠️ VW is restricting some EVs to 80% charge over a potential battery issue.
The affected cars are: ID.3, ID.4, ID.7 or ID. Buzz built between 2022 and 2025.
The issue concerns specific battery components and certain production batches.
The problem was identified through internal quality checks, with a manufacturing fault suspected. But the precise defect, battery supplier and total number of UK cars affected remain unclear.
Repairs could involve software measures or replacement battery modules.

For ID.3, ID.4 and ID.7 vehicles with high-voltage batteries that were produced by a specific supplier between 2022 and 2025, there is a requirement to carry out checks to ensure that the components in the battery meet our high-quality standards.
When the battery is charged to over 80%, overheating may occur, posing a fire risk. “

So, having seen Fiat’s Ippo concept earlier this year, we’d hoped the Italians might follow suit with a retro-inspired electric ‘Pandina’
😏But boss Arnaud Belloni has now confirmed the new small car will take a different approach, with styling inspired by the current Grande Panda rather than a neo-retro design.
😫 The good news? It’s expected to be electric and arrive next year.
🤔But wouldn’t a modern electric Panda with a proper nod to the original be something special? 👀⚡

The 2CV is back.and I want!! 🤓
Citroën just revealed the new electric 2CV Concept, and it’s pure Deuche energy. Ribbed bonnet, protruding headlights, roll-back cloth roof, and those signature bubble proportions.
Bright orange, deck-chair seats, and an egg basket in the cabin (because of course it does).
Target price: under €15k / ~£13k.
Production version expected in 2028.
Range rumoured around 160 miles.
It’s a concept for now, but this is the one. Simpler, cheaper, more human electric mobility.
