The liberal consensus is cohered around an outdated paradigm of anti-racism, anti-fascism. It doesn't know how to deal with intolerance, religious fundamentalism and sectarianism which are the real challenges to societal cohesion today. We're in a spiral with a clueless elite.

Given cyclists in London now treat even the pavements as cycle lanes this was entirely predictable Anyone who promises to sort out this — plus the scourge of people blaring phones out loud — gets my vote These tossers have been indulged for too long
Cyclists are continuing to ride along the newly pedestrianised section of Oxford Street, despite being asked to dismount. Around seven security staff have been stationed near Oxford Circus, calling out to cyclists to get off their bikes, with mixed success. Two things I recommend reading/listening to on the French situation are an article by Julian Jackson and the podcast with @murielzagha. Interesting and informed perspectives on France. You can find both here engelsbergideas.com/

British MP is confused over which country she represents
1 in 20 people in Bangladesh live in extreme poverty, facing multifaceted challenges from rising living costs to the climate crisis and more. In Sylhet, the APPG on Bangladesh met former tea garden workers in the minority Urang community, to learn more about them and @BRACworld’s Ultra Poor Graduation approach. Since 2002, this approach offers a time-bound pathway to agency, dignity and control over resources, for those in poverty so entrenched that they would not benefit from micro finance. A trial by the LSE found 95% of participants continued to improve their living standards when measured 11 years after interventions ended.

Apsara Begum is a UK MP. Due to the huge amounts of post about issues in Bangladesh it is important that her constituents realise she is supposed to be representing them. theyworkforyou.com/mp/25914/apsan…

Deranged.

If Sally Rooney is 'the voice-of-a- generation' it speaks volumes about that generation and its 'jaded ennui'. @VictoriaPeckham nails the narcissism of Rooney's 'pain-free public martyrdom'. Sally Rooney is not fit to lace Salman Rushdie's boots. thetimes.com/article/1fdd712…

Also the proscription of Palestine Action has enabled this public martyrdom and tied up the criminal justice system with thousands of absurd cases involving vicars and oaps waving placards. Rescind the ban and expose the hypocrisy of the cultural elite. 👇

Ladies and gentlemen, your government’s MPs now want to tax you to pay foreigners because of your race, while calling you racist. If it was a satire, you would not believe it.
A stolen watch doesn’t become yours just because you pass it down to your children. So why apply a different rule to stolen labour, wealth and land? Reparations are about inherited benefit and inherited loss. Time doesn’t erase injustice.

It’s not ‘racist’ to notice that England is undergoing convulsive demographic change. There is no historical precedent for the levels of migration that have been imposed on us – and against our will. The English are disappearing, says Patrick West buff.ly/c2JpUpW
