Air purifiers in Finnish daycare reduced children's illnesses by 18% in a carefully controlled study. This implies huge potential for better public health and cost savings from sick leaves, with a simple intervention against airborne infections.

One of my favourite graphics from my book Knowledge is Beautiful. The distribution of all the water in the world…
data: geni.us/KIB-WaterWorld
book: geni.us/KIB24

ALT Elegant infographic titled "Water World" showing distribution of Earth's water. Circles represent percentages for oceans (96.5%), freshwater (2.5%), and various subcategories. Highlights freshwater usage, with 69% in ice caps/snow and only 0.03% used by humans. Includes water in organisms like insects

Just released my latest map of Azerbaijan's elevation and land cover! From majestic mountains to sprawling plains, and charming towns in between, this map has it all. Thanks to Sentinel-2's high-res data from Esri, Impact Observatory, and Microsoft!
The pedagogical explatuon level on these videos is really great.
Easy to understand and fun to listen and watch.
Lots of great videos to learn from

This is the northernmost glacier in the Alps, lying on a beautiful limestone bed 🪨❄️
Summer skiing was a thing there not so long ago!

Extra 6 - update 🔥 | According to @CopernicusEMS 5045 ha were burnt 🔴 by the 23rd of August 11:38 UTC, "only" 43 ha more compared to the 22nd of August.
Looks like the northern flank is controlled & the fire has not fully entered the area where we can find the Laurisilva🟢

Very striking how much of a gap has opened up between left and right in concern over immigration in the UK.
Far wider than at any point in the past. Real polarisation on the issue.

I've seen enough: This is the beginning of the end for the generative AI boom.
18 months in, results for enterprise AI are underwhelming. Demand for AI consumer products is low. Gen AI is derided, protested and resisted. Its cultural moment has peaked.

People often ask about a good book on statistics.
Larry Wasserman is, in my opinion, one of the best (the best?) statistics professors there.
Larry is also the academic ambassador of conformal prediction and was the first to introduce conformal prediction to the leading academia in the USA 🇺🇸.
His statistic book is excellent, and there is also a companion R code for the book as well as unofficial Jupyter notebooks Python repo.
