I can't believe the ignorance of some people. Last night, sat in the pub..table next to me there were 4 middle aged men, they were going on and about illegal immigrants, men arriving on boats etc, saying they're bad, rapists, murderers. After a while I jumped into their conversation and explained angrily, they are NOT illegal immigrants, they are asylum seekers and their generalisation of them was disgusting. They are fleeing war, poverty, crime etc, hoping for a better life in our country. They are NOT criminals, they are fleeing that life. If their only route to freedom is on a boat, then they should be allowed to take that route. They were being persecuted in the country they came from and now they are being persecuted here. If, as a nation, we stop all this disgusting racism, the new people will enrich our culture, make our society a better place. For God sake, give them the chance they deserve

I’ve just come through innumerable checks at Paris Gare du Nord in order to return to UK. Families with young children & older people (yes, including me) finding it really difficult. The sooner we return to EU the better it will be for us all.
