We know how much it matters to live in a country where our rights are protected, where the law applies equally to everyone, and where the majority can’t just decide that some people don’t deserve the same freedoms. The safety and freedom we’ve found in America didn’t happen by accident. They exist because of democracy. And protecting democracy means protecting Jewish safety, too.
We know what happens when those protections start to break down. When courts are weakened, elections are undermined, and people lose equal protection under the law, minorities are often the first to pay the price. Jews have seen this throughout our history. It’s one of the reasons so many of our families sought refuge in democratic countries.
That’s why I find it so alarming to see what’s happening right now. When masked government agents are taking people off the streets and citizens are being shot in public, we should all be worried about where things are headed. As Jews, we know that when a government starts targeting certain groups of people, no one should assume they’re safe from what comes next.
Mike Rogers has chosen to align himself with a movement that is willing to attack our democracy. He stood with Trump and refused to accept the results of the 2020 election. And now we’re seeing what happens when a political movement treats the rights and dignity of certain people as disposable. For Jews, these things should set off alarm bells.
Jewish safety is tied to the health of our democracy. We can’t protect one without protecting the other. And in this Senate race, Abdul is the candidate who understands that and is willing to fight for it.

I felt that I needed to take my dad, who is 95, to @BarackObama’s rally. I’ll never forget how the crowd received him. He loved every minute of meeting our incredible slate of candidates. In little clutches backstage, he offered to help every one of them in the closing days . 🥹

Worrisome strategy form a top Dem. 1. By defn if the bill gets to potus’s desk ~everyone in the caucus voted for it (not just the left). 2. Trump vetoing bills to make health care cheaper is a good political outcome for Dems (& makes it more likely that we win in 28 to do this).
.@SenBrianSchatz says that if Democrats take the Senate, the party's left wing needs to be strategic about not proposing things "that the president of the United States is guaranteed to veto."

The pedophile protection party’s president is laundering right-wing conspiracy theories through the most corrupt DOJ in American history.
Whenever the news turns bad, this creep reaches for one name: mine. So let’s make it crystal clear. My name has always been Ilhan Omar.
Maybe you should focus on what your VP’s real name is.

I’ve spent my career fighting to keep Kansans safe.
After being severely injured in the line of duty, I became a prosecutor, where I put violent offenders behind bars. I then became a securities prosecutor, investigating and prosecuting scam artists across the state. Now, I represent victims of drunk driving, fighting to get them the justice they deserve.
I have always fought to protect Kansans, and I will continue to do that as your Attorney General.

Fired up to serve alongside fighters like @chrisrabb who understand that we don't wait around for things to happen to us. We make things happen. Organized people beat organized money every time.
Grateful to have Rep. Rabb back on the ground in Michigan to help get out the vote!

One month ago, I sat down with President Lula to discuss how government serving poor and working people. Weeks later, Brazil took a historic step: a 40-hour workweek, at least two days off and no cuts to pay for more than 30 million workers.
Workers fought for decades to win the five-day workweek in America. Brazilian workers have fought for this victory, too. I congratulate them on this achievement.
Working people deserve time to live, not just work. Building a better future means giving people more of their lives back. And we’ll keep fighting for it.

The IDF detained numerous American citizens, including @BradLander, in the West Bank, simply for participating in the olive harvest. All while turning a blind eye to settler violence against Palestinians there.
Pass the Stop The Settlements Act now.
I’ve been released from IDF custody with a “warning,” apparently because of my public profile (I told them I wasn’t even a congressmember yet, just a nominee).
But several dozen rabbis & participants harvesting olives with me are still in detention. For harvesting olives. They should all be released immediately.
To be clear: Palestinians face far worse consequences every day. These detentions by the IDF are one more attempt to undermine Palestinians’ right to harvest their olive groves, travel on their roads, and live in their homes. Yet one more element of escalating, and very clearly state-sponsored ethnic cleansing.
We’ll update on their status as soon as we hear.

The IDF detained Brad Lander and several other Americans this morning for assisting Palestinian farmers in harvesting olives — a shameful action by the Israeli government that I wholeheartedly condemn. The remaining detainees must be immediately released.
The Israeli government’s actions in the West Bank have increasingly violated international law, while its continued expansion of illegal settlements and failure to stop settler violence have led to the needless loss of life and undermined prospects for lasting peace. The Israeli government must put an end to settlement expansion, hold violent settlers accountable, and respect the rights and dignity of Palestinians living in both the West Bank and Gaza.
The Israeli government must understand that their actions have consequences — and US political leaders must be willing to do more to reinforce that.

I’m glad @bradlander was released from IDF custody, and I call for the rest of his delegation to be released immediately. This is just a glimpse of the horrific reality Palestinians face in their homeland every day, terrorized by Israeli soldiers and settlers and unable to live freely.
And it’s why I continue to demand that the Israeli government release all arbitrarily detained Palestinian prisoners, and for the U.S. government to stop enabling occupation and genocide of the Palestinian people.

Israeli authorities detained humanitarian volunteers and American rabbis who were peacefully helping Palestinian farmers harvest their olives in the West Bank.
I urge the Israeli Ambassador to immediately intervene, end the intimidation of these volunteers, release those still detained, and ensure they are not deported.
Protecting Palestinian farmers from settler violence should not be treated as a crime.
Jewish tradition calls on us to pursue justice. Today, American rabbis and advocates lived out those values by helping Palestinian farmers harvest their olives. Israeli authorities detained them, including congressional candidate @BradLander.
The Israeli government must immediately release everyone detained and start arresting these settler terrorists.
The Palestinian farmers these leaders and advocates came to support are left even more vulnerable to settler and state violence without the protection of those who stood beside them.
This is precisely when our values must mean something. American Jewish institutions that claim to care about Israel’s future must stop looking away. It’s past time to speak out.

In the deepening chaos in the West Bank, the IDF detained several dozen American rabbis and volunteers, including my future Democratic colleague Brad Lander; Mattan Berner-Kadish, who grew up in my district; and at least 31 other American citizens helping Palestinian farmers try to harvest olives in the West Bank under the threat of violence. Meantime, vigilante settlers continue to terrorize Palestinians in the West Bank with scant consequences.
Last week, out-of-control settlers injured an American journalist. Now, the IDF targets volunteers for helping Palestinians harvest olives. The eyes of the world are on the West Bank.

American rabbis and advocates were detained for helping Palestinians harvest their olives. Now, Netanyahu’s right-wing regime is planning to deport them at the same time it offers impunity to those West Bank settlers who terrorize. Free the Americans to return to their good work, end the settler violence and Israeli occupation.
