Deep down in a place they cannot or will not admit, ESPN has to know McAfee’s likability with fans is trending towards being a problem.
But until ratings give them a datapoint to think this/voice this, it’s a bubble of teeth gritting, denial, and acquiescing as needed.
A required cross to bear of the job.

The video in question was pretty tame and frankly, a nothingburger.
For it to actually impact the show on Saturday and draw these comments today (where Charlie Kirk is mentioned)....
IMO got to have more self-control and thicker skin. This stuff hurts way more than it helps.

USA Sports announces that its coverage of Game 6 will simulcast on E! and Syfy.
Syfy has carried a Premier League match on Championship Sunday most years, and has aired WWE events during the Olympics, but this appears to be the first live basketball game to air on the channel.
Or maybe it's a sign that the current global structure of atomized nation-states aren't up to the global challenges of our age or the global scale of the money the richest among us can spend.

Prime Video’s Patriots-Bears game averaged 19.86 million viewers. That's the second most-watched TNF on Prime game ever behind last season's Christmas night game between the Broncos and Chiefs (21.1M)
Prime says Thursday's game is the most-watched Week 7 game on record across the history of the Thursday Night Football package, beating the previous mark set in 2015 by +16%.
Big number.

This is a terrible look for the WNBA -- and there is no way spin it.
I realize all the potential solutions sucked but the prospect of crowning a champion on a Thursday afternoon is just brutal optics (and will be brutal television ratings.) If you are the league, you are praying for a G7.
NEW YORK, Oct. 26, 2026 – Game 6 of the WNBA Finals between the Golden State Valkyries and Atlanta Dream will be played at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Thursday, October 29 at 12:30 p.m. ET, the WNBA announced today.
The game, originally scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, will still air on USA Network and stream on Peacock.
To accommodate the Finals game, the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks have agreed to move the start time of their regular-season game versus the Cleveland Cavaliers to 8:00 p.m. ET.
I predict a school with the initials U.S.C. wins that game.
Women's college basketball is going to get a mega-matchup early on network television.
@GamecockWBB vs. @USCWBB will be on ABC on Nov. 15. That game features WNBA first round prospects all over the court led by JuJu Watkins.

Incredible! A heroic finishing touch to one of the dumbest leadership seasons in professional sports history. They’ve had like 12 major decisions in 2026 and somehow went 0 for 12. People want to like this league!
They optimize for television, but this is one of many reasons you're seeing people opt out of season tickets.
Not a lot of lead time to plan your trip, as many CFB fans travel a few hours to watch games (do you need a place to stay on Friday? Saturday?) Can you tailgate?
