“You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:34
Christians know the miserable bondage we were all in.

"Now John Laws has made his last broadcast. We cannot hear his voice again. But we can tune into another Voice – the Voice from above. We can pick up today the gospel of this other John, the one who tells us of the man John Laws admired." – @mpjensen sydneyanglicans.net/news/the…

We do not find Paul concerning himself with the size of churches or with questions about their growth. His primary concern is with their faithfulness, with the integrity of their witness.

Those trying to quell inner doubts about their position fear debate because they fear changing their minds. That's why they'd rather broadcast declarations of unshakeable certainty than engage in dialogue. They aren't trying to change minds, they're reassuring themselves.

To repeat: Every preacher in every pulpit this Sunday and for Sundays to come should be proclaiming radical grace, respect for others, moderate language, opposition to violent speech in concrete terms...and if that is "political," make the most of it.

John Frame on cosplay theology: “Young theologians often imagine themselves as the next Luther. When they’re too old to play cowboys & Indians, they want to play Luther & the Pope. When the real Pope won’t play with them, they pick on somebody else & say, You’re it.”

Excellent report on how churches are supporting the NHS's Social Prescribing.
Valuable reading for faith leaders in Australia who want to be at the forefront of integrating with our healthcare initiatives.
Social prescribing – connecting people to community-based activities to benefit their wellbeing.
"I wholeheartedly endorse the invaluable role of faith groups in the social prescribing framework, as outlined in this report. By fostering trusted relationships and providing holistic support, faith communities are uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between healthcare and wellbeing, offering a preventive approach to health that prioritises connection, care, and community."
Professor Dame Clare Gerada
Past President Royal College of General Practitioners

"There is nothing trite about the 'comfort and joy' on offer this season. After all, the birth of the Messiah is an announcement of his journey to the cross, and the gift he will offer is that of his own body, for the sins of the whole world." @mpjensen

Last night’s arson attack on a Melbourne synagogue is a shocking antisemitic crime. It should be condemned by all people of good will, whether those of faith or not. Those who incite hate or perpetrate such crimes must be prosecuted by the law.

The airbrushed picture of an attractive young woman cavorting in her pyjamas promoting the #leadbeaterbill should be replaced by a picture of Cyril Tooze.
Terminally ill Mr Tooze was told he would wait 10 months for home care in Australia. He couldn't afford both rent and private homecare. So he was assisted to die in South Australia where Voluntary Assisted Dying is legal.
This is the reality of #assisteddying. Not so much a choice but a desperate act when faced with dwindling options. Like suicide often is.

Again we have seen anti-semitic hate on the streets of Sydney. Please pray for Jewish Australians who should be able to feel safe in their own homes. We must repudiate antisemitism in all its forms.

Given that we know that coercive control is something insidious and manipulative and that people often don’t realise they have been victims until years later, the Assisted Dying Bill is an enormous threat to vulnerable people. There are no adequate safeguards here.

Explore the hidden crisis facing young Australians—our newest paper, The Silent Epidemic, uncovers how digital lives, economic shifts, and changing communities are fueling a rise in loneliness. Drawing from Hon Dr. @ALeighMP’s research on declining community engagement and @drmichellehlim’s work on the impact of loneliness on Australian youth, we reveal the forces shaping this silent epidemic.
