When the Labour Party loses an election by a landslide it goes through a process of reflection, review and lesson learning before it can move forward in a way is credible to the public. Will the conservative party ever do the same?

A mid term budget in a landslide parliament should have been much more daring and imaginative. Think of Tory chancellors mid term with much smaller or no majorities. Labour rarely win landslides. This one is being wasted.

Andrew, there’s something spectacularly arrogant about the Conservatives issuing school reports after 14 years of failing their own tests.
Record taxes, soaring debt, struggling public services and a £16.9 billion shortfall in the defence equipment plan you left behind.
And borrowing is actually forecast to fall as a share of GDP.
You’re up in Parliament tomorrow, Andrew. Perhaps bring a properly costed alternative rather than another colouring-in exercise.
The party that failed the exam doesn’t get to mark everyone else’s homework.

Dear Mr.Reed,
can I ask please if the account of LGR by Polly Toynbee in her recent Guardian article is broadly correct? Ans what do you think should or will happen now?
thank you.

Steve Hackett at the Royal Albert Hall last night delivered in epic style. Can't remember when we've heard him with such a tiger in his tank. Nearly 3 hours of solo and Genesis material which just flew by. Superb stuff.

Can further confirm that De Gaulle: Liberte was absolutely brilliant. Give Simon Abkarian all the awards. And a special mention to Simon Russell Beale too, as Churchill was great. #DeGaulle
Watched De Gaulle: Resistance today. Superb film. Urge others with a passing war interest to watch too. #DeGaulle

I saw the de Gaulle liberte film 2 and I thought it was the best WW2 war film I have seen in decades. Not since Patton ‘Lust for glory’ have I enjoyed one so much. It depicted battle scenes, complex politics/ diplomacy and resistance movement interactions so well. Great film.

De Gaulle: Liberté is fantastic. The politics, intrigue, the battles… this is history on an epic scale. The cast is incredible, the score is beautiful and it’s absolutely gripping. The two films are two of the best films I’ve seen this year. I couldn’t recommend them enough.

And so, they launched their presidential campaign in Orléans under heavy police protection. In his opening speech, Jordan Bardella promised the same Giorgia Meloni’s law-and-order measures passed by decree earlier this week. Then came Marine Le Pen, the self-styled “mother of the nation”, now claiming to be neither left nor right. 1/3

I just listened back to get her name. Nathalie Oziol. NA member for LFI. She blamed the violence on Macron’s government, not even a tiny suggestion that those responsible bore any responsibility. I was shocked, it was awful and she was not pulled up on it by the interviewer.
