OTD 1997: Diego Maradona played his last ever professional game.
Not any game, a superclásico at El Monumental!
Maradona came off at HT, replaced by a 19-year old Juan Román Riquelme. Boca beat River 2-1. Diego announced his retirement five days later on his 37th birthday.
Assuming Man Utd lose (currently 2-0 down), they are only a Sunderland home win (vs Leeds at 16:30) away from being just a single point off the bottom of the Premier League. Incredible.
