Still remember Quenton Nelson as a draft prospect in 2018. One of the best clips that I’ve ever seen while studying an IOL prospect.

"We still suck. We just sucked less. And so, we have to figure out how to suck less each week." - Jon Sumrall after Florida's win at Texas
Yes. Fight is over. But question remains…who won?
I joined @notthefakeSVP last night and he asked a simple question: Who is the expanded college football playoff for?
It will end up being for no one.
We care about this sport a lot and we tried to put it into words.
If possible
Replying to @DanWetzel @JoshPateCFB
but most fans don't want the players paid, want no transfer portal, and wish it was 1998 ...should we follow their lead there too?
Love this definition of “culture”, a word that gets over-talked and over-thought. This is simple, clear, and accurate.
John Sumrall says culture is very simple, it’s what you encourage + what you tolerate
“I’m very simple in how I define culture. It’s a combination of what you promote or encourage, added up with what you tolerate and allow. So what behaviors do you reinforce through encouragement and really spur on, or what things do you allow? It’s a whole lot harder to build the culture the way you want it than it is for it to get torn down.”
“It takes more time to build it than it does for it to deteriorate. And so what I mean by that is, man, it’s the standards you have every day within your building.”
“If we say Gator time is 10 minutes early to all meetings, is that nine minutes or is that 10 minutes?”
“If we say you have to have your breakfast check-in at a certain time on our early morning practice days, like you have to be here by 6:30am and have eaten breakfast, is that 6:30am or is that 6:31am? What’s cool? What’s allowable? Because as soon as 6:31am becomes fine, you know what else becomes fine? 6:32am and 6:33am. Everything matters. And I’ll tell you this too: I think you have to coach your best players the hardest.”
“Jaden Ball gets coached harder by me than anybody on our team because he’s a pretty good football player. I’m going to be as hard on him as anybody because he’s the guy that has the most to gain by us making him do everything the right way. Because he’s already a special player. How do we take him to the next level?”
“And so I just think as you’re building the culture, you’re really trying to make sure guys are saying, ‘Hey, we just want you to be the best you can be. We love you. We care about you. And we’re going to do everything we can in our power to help you become your best.’”

College athletics is terrible at seeing problems around the corner. The 24-team playoff is the latest example.
A lot of schools that supported this will regret it because in the end it won't be about the playoff or even the now diminished regular season.
Notre Dame now has the best situation in all of football - almost 100 percent guarantee to make the playoff, freedom to schedule as it wishes, maximization of its own media value.
To use the Big Ten as an example, why wouldn't Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State follow? If you can, be independent. That's the future.
The 18-team Big Ten is bloated, distant and winning it carries little intrinsic or competitive value for the biggest brands.
Those three schools can create a scheduling agreement that would increase their media revenue 2-3x and give the same control over everything. No sharing money. No forced TV times. Eight or even nine home games. Select your own schedule.
Staying in the Big Ten now makes little and perhaps no economic sense. And yes, I do understand the league-wide research grants and so on, but there is always a way around everything.
In terms of athletics, for those schools (and maybe a few more) it's lost revenue for the sake of loyalty and we know how that usually gets settled.
All these middle and lower schools -- even in the P2 -- that supported this because they'll get in the "participation playoff" with an 8-4 record are facing significant risk in the future.
There will come a day when they will now get a share of the Ohio State-Michigan windfall; only Ohio State and Michigan will.
Maybe not tomorrow, but I believe a 24-team playoff makes it closer than ever.
Thoughts?
Lays it out well. This expansion isn’t to better determine a champion, it’s to try to replace what used to be a meaningful postseason for more teams & ergo prop up their regular season games. So..if you just ignore the conference(s) that actually have compelling regular season games, divorce the purpose of a playoffs from the playoffs and slam your head in your car door 10-12 times then expansion starts to make great sense.
What entails expanding the CFB Playoffs from 12 to 24 teams? 🤔
