NLCS MVP Jake Bauers shares how letting go of results helped him find a different level of freedom as a competitor.
"I think what changed for me this year was I stopped caring about results. I started caring about competing. I started caring about being in the moment and getting out of my own way."
Sometimes, the biggest obstacle to performing at your best isn't a lack of preparation or ability.
It's the pressure you place on yourself to produce a particular outcome.
You become so concerned with what you want to happen that you lose touch with what the moment actually requires.
Any performer can unlock a new level when they learn how to be fully invested in the competition without becoming imprisoned by the outcome.

Ray Kerr was working at a 7-Eleven and a movie theater, thinking his baseball career was over.
Then he got signed for $2,000 and spent seven seasons in the minors.
He just dominated the Phillies over 3.1 scoreless in his first MLB postseason game.

This angle gets me, where he’s just kind of standing there soaking it in, then sees his daughter and smiles, then instantly melts into tears … whew. Hell of a run, 35.
Steve Alford should have been the coach at Indiana many times. For the most part IUBB had been a train wreck for the past 25 yrs.
Former Indiana All-American and national champion Steve Alford is retiring from coaching at the end of the season. Alford has led six different colleges to the NCAA Tournament. #iubb

My whole generation has Madden’s voice burned in our brains from decades of watching games and playing video games. And this … doesn’t sound like Madden.

High school basketball success comes down to three things:
- Playing harder than anyone expects you to.
- Playing smarter than your opponents prepare for.
- Playing together when the game is on the line.
