Wearing a Kurta, ugly sandal exposing his dirty toes, unshaven. Even third grade Pakistani bureaucrat dresses better. Why is it so difficult for our ministers and bureaucrats to appreciate that how you present yourself is also a reflection of the country you represent? And this goes well beyond government. Visit universities, offices and professional gatherings across the West, and you will occasionally see the same lack of attention to grooming and presentation among Indian students and professionals. This isn’t about expensive clothes, designer labels or wearing Western suits. A simple, well-fitted outfit can look exceptionally elegant. It is about making an effort, respecting the occasion and showing consideration for your guests. India must introduce and strictly enforce a formal dress and grooming code for ministers, bureaucrats and officials representing the country, particularly during diplomatic engagements and ceremonial occasions. Clear standards of attire, personal grooming and protocol should be non-negotiable. ಚಿನ್ನದ ಅಂಬಾರಿಯ ಬಾಡಿಗೆ ಕಥೆ The Karnataka government pays the erstwhile Mysuru royal family for the use of the Golden Howdah (Ambari) during the annual Mysuru Dasara. Year-wise payments reported in media: - 2012: ₹20 lakh - 2013: ₹25 lakh - 2014: ₹30 lakh - 2015: ₹30 lakh It is said to be around ₹50 lakh now. In 2015, professor PV Nanjaraja Urs filed a PIL in the High Court challenging the payments and questioning the custody of the Golden Howdah and Golden Throne by the family. The HC dismissed the petition, leaving the question of possession and the government's decision on payments to its discretion. The dismissal of the case however did not constitute a judicial declaration that the royal family owned the artefacts.
