I keep saying. Shona people don’t exist. Shona is a bunch of dialects that foreigners decided sounded similar. I can only understand every 3rd or 4th word. And if I spoke myChikaranga we wouldn’t hear each other. Zulus, Xhosas and Ndebeles are not considered one people even though they hear each other.

His father once told him, β€œSon, farming is in your blood.” 🌾 He believed it with everything he had. At 26 he took over the family farm β€” young, hopeful, and ready to work harder than anyone who came before him. He kept that promise for fifteen years. Now he’s 41 and looks a decade older. His hands are split and calloused from the cold. His back seizes up every morning before the day even starts. He’s missed birthdays, school plays, family dinners and anniversaries that can never be replayed. Every Sunday night his wife does the accounts at the kitchen table. Last Sunday she sat there for a long time without speaking. Then she looked up. β€œWe’re forty thousand pounds down this year.” After fifteen years of early mornings and late nights, diesel has doubled, fertiliser is up 60%, electricity has tripled… and the price he receives for his wheat is almost exactly what it was in 2015. He is not lazy. He is not incompetent. He is not failing. The system is failing him. And every Sunday night his wife still sits at that same table, staring at numbers that only ever seem to get worse. How long before Britain loses an entire generation of farmers who simply can’t afford to carry on?

You have conveniently forgotten about the million of acres with grass and flower margins around arable fields and the feeding we all do. My margins have been in 21 years.

The Ministry of Justice has backed down and will no longer be proceeding with its obnoxious, nepotistic and corrupt title deeds pilot project after a fierce fight back from lawyers. Now that the lawyers have prevailed, the public must now fight them and their State. Why should people be required to consult lawyers for a service they do not need? How is a 91‑year‑old titleholder expected to afford legal fees that are finagled upon them without consultation or their consent? How much will the state charge for this service, and who will benefit from those charges? Are private companies providing this digitization service, and who is behind them? From the perspective of the title holder who made an outlay to acquire property and obtain a deed of title, is this expropriation of money reasonably justifiable in a democratic society?

Zimbabweans don’t use in large quantities canned food. . That market is a no. It then leaves exports. Are they lucrative considering the use of US dollar. No. Ask your collegue @mutcol about cold chain and value chain. It’s not kids game.cheaply done n Latin America or Zambia

AMA, @hdczim & @TransvaalAfrica are on a look-and-learn visit at the Johannesburg Fresh Produce Market with PACINA. We’re exploring ways to establish aggregation centres with cold chain facilities in Zimbabwe key to reducing post-harvest losses and strengthening markets.
