It also occurred to me that that other than the energy monster that we saw within the first few episodes, there's been zero sight or acknowledgement of spirits in this new setting. And it's apparent that Pavi is the most spiritually attuned character in the show so far. She obviously values nature and life, and while they show her talking to rocks and want to give off the impression that she's lonely or a little too hokey, something's telling me that spirits are actually communicating with her through these rocks. We'll eventually see if that's the case or not, but none of the other characters introduced so far seem to be connected on a spiritual or cultural level.

My theory on the Cataclysm that wiped out the four nations is that it wasn't anything of Korra's doing, but rather the spirit world putting its foot down and getting its lick back on humanity for not only abusing spirit energy but becoming collectively misaligned spiritually. I feel like the spirits were trying to warn Korra to put an end to the energy harvesting that several businesses (maybe even Asami's too?) were doing. And Korra may have actually sided with the spirits, but as she was trying to put a stop to it, something BAD happened that led to Korra's death while she was in the Avatar State. And that may have been the final straw as the spirit world cut off all communication with humanity and brought on natural disasters that destroyed most of the world that we knew from ATLA and LoK. Looking at the new world map, it seems like each Haven represents a Chakra that the Avatar(s) has to unlock in each region in order to get these natural disasters to stop -- and maybe the world can eventually become inhabitable again? #AvatarSevenHavens
