To clarify: There is a resolve to make sure any potential championship that is won Thursday afternoon is celebrated on the court.
Ramona Shelburne on what could happen if the WNBA title is won on Thursday:
"That celebration may not actually be on that court. I've heard there are discussions about whether there's enough time to turn the arena over in time for the fans to celebrate on the court. It could be moved to a practice court"
Unreal man smh

The silver lining in all of this is simply that an inconvenience in scheduling can still garner a sold out crowd. I think that’s pretty dope and speaks volume to the growth of the game. Thank you for sharing your screen with us 🥰🥰

can confirm!
It’s interesting that so many are shocked the daytime option is where they landed. I’ve been telling @NekiasNBA this is a possible option for a while now that I thought would be considered strongly.
BLOCK PARTY HISTORY 🔥
With 14 rejections and counting vs Atlanta, Kiah Stokes moved past Sylvia Fowles and Brittney Griner last time out for the most blocks in a WNBA Finals series!

Women's college basketball is going to get a mega-matchup early on network television.
@GamecockWBB vs. @USCWBB will be on ABC on Nov. 15. That game features WNBA first round prospects all over the court led by JuJu Watkins.

USA Sports announces that its coverage of Game 6 will simulcast on E! and Syfy.
Syfy has carried a Premier League match on Championship Sunday most years, and has aired WWE events during the Olympics, but this appears to be the first live basketball game to air on the channel.

Already 28,000 people in the queue?… Wow. I had and I have no doubt that game will be sold out.

In my honest opinion? Hell yeah.
I don’t think y’all are giving WNBA fans enough credit. Especially if Atlanta wins tonight. If you think State Farm Arena at 12:30 on a Thursday won’t be wall-to-wall packed then I don’t think you’ve been paying attention to how serious these fans feel about their team.
And, let’s not act like Golden State doesn’t travel. If they win tonight, you don’t think they’re gonna hop on a plane and come to Atlanta to see their team win the championship within two years of existence?
Maybe I’m delusional, but from what I’ve seen, WNBA fans are just as dedicated as NFL fans, NBA fans, and MLB fans. They will find a way to show up for their team. I have no doubt about that.
Replying to @SheKnowsSports
Do you think 17,000 with about 72 hours notice to buy a ticket and take the day off of work are gonna fill the arena up?
Daytime W games seem to never do well with attendance. And I have PTSD from ATL hosting Game 3 in 2013 at some off site arena when 5000 showed up.

For those asking why the WNBA Finals game is at 12:30 while the NBA regular season game is at 8….Both the Cavs and Hawks play in other cities the night before. The doubleheader matinee and Friday/Tuesday options ended up being the best of the bad options here. Moving Hawks-Cavs to Friday also created terrible back-to-backs for both teams.
After a weekend of nonstop frantic discussions and negotiation, Game 6 of the WNBA Finals will be played Thursday at 12:30 pm at 17,000-seat State Farm Arena in Atlanta, sources told ESPN.
The Atlanta Hawks-Cleveland Cavaliers game that night will move back to 8 pm to accommodate the doubleheader, just as the Hawks did for Game 4. This allows a potential Game 7 to remain scheduled for Halloween at Chase Center in San Francisco.
All three Finals games in Atlanta have required hurried adjustments to the schedule at State Farm Arena. It took collective efforts from the WNBA, NBA, the Hawks, State Farm Arena, Dream, Valkyries and broadcast partners to figure out the best course of action again.
By moving the game earlier in the day, the WNBA avoided a scenario where a potential championship game was played inside the Dream’s home arena, the 3,500 seat Gateway Center.
The other option under strong consideration was moving Game 6 to an open date at State Farm Arena on Friday and Game 7 to an open date at Chase Center on Tuesday, November 3.
