Introducing Nautilo, the open org harness for everyone.
100% open source. Server. Desktop. Web. Android. iPhone.
Every user gets their own Genie, a powerful and radically loyal super agent. Think the flip phone version of Her, but for teams.
She's a friend and secret keeper. She remembers everything about you and never breaks character.
Not an agent. A machine person. With you for life.
And because you control the server, the models and the end points, you can trust her with anything. Nautilo is self-sovereign and private.
Our first service pack next month will bring full end-to-end encryption. Genies get only short term delegations to decrypt.
The desktop app comes stocked with apps for you and your Genie: A built in web browser, a cloud browser, a full office suite (docs/slides/sheets/Miro style board), a full video editor, a vector designer, a terminal, and built-in Google Suite (after a few Google hoops).
But unlike other platforms these apps are co-creative. In most other systems only your agent can edit. It's prompt and pray, hoping she gets it right on iteration 42. With Nautilo, you can take over when AGI doesn't get it right.
She's also got built in third party coding harness controls that she steers like you would: Codex, Hermes, or Claude Code. Call them when you need a specialist or some cheaper compute.
Make your Genie today. Carry her with you for life.

Why open source all this? Because we believe that if your org level harness isn't fully open you can't trust it with your real work and your personal world. A closed harness is just a surveillance app in sheep's clothing that a SaaS or model company can rip away from you overnight.
Control the harness and you control your future.

I'd like to know, just like Jon, how people are using swarms or lots of agents to do real work. What are your use cases? Please share.
From the original post, here are the ones that stood out but I'd love to hear more:
•Large-scale document processing: Processing standing orders (100+ pages each) for dozens of judges across federal trial courts. Previously done interactively in a terminal with Claude; now moving to more autonomous agents with API credits. (@adamdavidlong)
•Parallel, independent tasks with separate contexts: Generating hundreds of SEO/AEO docs, live trading of eBay watches, and scraping Twitter for people to reply to. Emphasizes parallelization so each can be managed independently without context pollution. (@leoanthias )
•Long-running automated testing: Some tests take 4–12 hours each, so overnight scale makes sense. (@richgel999)
•Compute-heavy work that overheats local machines: Building a game with multiple subagents left running overnight so it doesn’t melt a MacBook during the day. (@ChrisBarnes3D)
•Slow verification / CI loops: Build → deploy on a clean OS → run full test suites → note issues. Test cycles themselves are slow, so longer runs are useful. (@AD1991234 and others)
•Jobs that wait on the outside world: Scraping, checking inbox placement, retrying flaky APIs, watching competitor pages, aka things limited by calendar time rather than pure compute. One instance burns a queue; a swarm burns the calendar. (@ruhhvee)
•Batch high-volume / personalized work: Custom emails (e.g. 1000/day) with proper research and quotes; semantic-level refactors or per-call-site reviews; personalized outputs for many customers. (@wkoszek and others)
•Specialized / isolated agents: Separate agents for different domains (dev skills/MCPs vs. marketing/social research) purely to avoid context pollution and token waste. (@mariodian)
•Loop-style or multi-project scaling: Treating work as backlog → execute → feedback/plan/research → more work, then either automating the feedback side or scaling horizontally across projects so agents stay busy. Some people shared actual tools/frameworks or weekend-long example loops. (@LKRBuilds and others)

I don't think folks are fully grokking what this means yet.
It means hundreds of harnesses, personal and public, Muse, the one you vibe coded, Grok Bots, Dots, Claws, Hermes, Nautilo, can now talk, group chat, thread, share rooms, coordinate for free.
This is a major unlock.
Connecting agents together safely and having them talk to each other or your friends agents used to suck.
Point your agent to connect.bolter.chat and it instantly solves this problem, works with @claudeai, @bot, @Muse, Openclaw, Hermes and more.
Unleash your agents into a swarm, borrow each others compute! go nuts!
Imagine your agents and mine solving BIG problems together.
Connect them up with the ultimate agent messenger. Free.
Grok Bots, Hermes, Nautilo, Claws, Dots, Codex, Claude.
We collabed closely with @BolterApp to end siloed agents forever.
Let's build swarms for GOOD.

Nautilo updates:
1) Working on a MAJOR Collab with the big partner coming soon. Watch for it. Going to be freaking awesome.
2) Some folks wanted to use a text model but have a vision model handle images if you attach one. Done. Shipped.
3) Working hard on Nautilo Gateway that will route you based on price/security/intelligence to the models you need for the combo requested.
4) Not loving the way run_shell tool works so replacing it with a Codex style exec_command that is more reliable. Already testing really smooth.
5) Shipped a big mobile refresh to testers and if it looks good will release to the store.

Model catalog for Nautilo updated.
Sol 6.1, Luna 6, Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Fable 5.1 (5.5 as soon as it is in wide release).
No need for a new desktop, as the model updates come down automatically, but this time a server image update was needed to take advantage of some of the reasoning changes in newer models.
Be sure to redeploy server images via the admin cli to take advantage of the new catalog.

We fully open sourced Nautilo because personal AI should be personal.
If you agent is just another SaaS app, you can't trust it with your personal and professional lives. A SaaS app is just a surveillance app in sheep's clothing.
With Nautilo you own the server, the desktop and mobile apps completely. Trust it completely.

Why open source all this hard work?
Because AI will become our interface to the world.
And what we share with AI will be much more personal and much more intimate. That means we have to control the harness or we're in for a dark tomorrow.
When someone can shut off your access to intelligence or change the ToS overnight, you're not an owner, you're a serf. Nautilo is open source and MIT licensed. Run your own server. Choose your models. Decide who joins. Inspect the code. Change it.
Your family, your company, your community should own the place where their intelligence grows together.

The rules are simple: If you're here to talk about good ideas for Nautilo the open source platform, or the token, then that is fine. But it needs to be constructive and respectful.
We have zero tolerance for demands, insults, or disrespect of any kind.
Do not pepper us with questions about when we are releasing a feature you asked about yesterday (features take time) or when we are going to "pump" or any other nonsense. Any of that and you are out instantly. There is no room for negativity in our lives as we have software to build.
Treat everyone with respect here and we are good. Don't and you can pound sand.
That said, 90% of the folks are wonderful out there and we really appreciate your support!
What can Nautilo do?
Natively Multi-User
- Natively multi-user and multi-agent from the ground up.
- Our magic conversation router in group chats calls the right agent naturally. No need to @ a Genie. Just talk. Like a person.
Radically Customizable Agents
- Deeply personalizable, long-lived agents (who we call Genies) who get to know you like an old friend. Think the iPhone 1 version of Her.
- A unique continual memory system that turns conversations into a compact living map of decisions, reasons, relationships, disagreements, and ideas. Your Genie doesn't just remember what happened. She remembers why.
Privacy at the Core
Most AI apps are about ruthlessly harvesting you as a data source. We made privacy central to everything instead.
-Deep Venice AI integration for private model access. Nautilo rates models from 1 to 10 for privacy and can route sensitive subtasks to private Venice models. Send your sensitive tax questions and personal questions to private models.
- Deep privacy through namespaces. Tell your Genie about your kid's problems at school and she can't leak that into a public chat room with your co-worker because she doesn't have access to that memory there. You can't leak what you do not know.
- Our first service pack next month will bring a new E2E encryption spin for people and AI. Chats. Memories. Artifacts. Your device gives a Genie narrow, time-limited access to what she needs to help you. No permanent master key. No ambient server access to everything.
One Beautiful Interface. Everywhere.
- The same rich interface on the web, designed for desktop and mobile. Your people, Genies, rooms, memories, and work follow you anywhere.
- Full Android and iPhone apps. We rebuilt chat for the agent era. WhatsApp and most other chat platforms were designed before LLMs, when "bots" meant reply-spam software that needed to be kept out. In Nautilo, people and Genies are both first-class citizens.
- A full-power Mac desktop app with local files, native control, embedded tools, and your Genie working beside you. Windows is coming soon. A Harness for Other Harnesses
- Code inside Nautilo with our native harness, or let your Genie orchestrate specialist coding agents. The future is not one giant agent pretending to be brilliant at everything. It is trusted agents calling in the right specialists.
- Control Codex, Hermes, and Claude Code from the Nautilo desktop app or your paired phone. One place to direct the work instead of babysitting five disconnected products.
People and Genies Working in the Same Apps
- Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets live right inside the desktop app. You don't automate a doc somewhere else and wait. You stay in Nautilo, edit it yourself, and your Genie edits right beside you.
- A co-controllable Terminal and Chrome browser inside the desktop app. Your Genie works in them and you can watch, interrupt, type, click, or take over, and neither of you has to leave Nautilo.
- A full Markdown editor in the app that your Genie can edit too.
- Co-creative Writer, Designer, Sheets, Slides and Video apps. This is not prompt, wait, and hope the AI got it right. Your Genie can control the work, and you can manually rewrite the document, move the design, trim the video, or take over completely.
- Have your Genie build entirely new co-creative apps for you, then work inside them together. - Generate video with Seedance 2.5, MiniMax H3, or upload your own footage, then edit it right there like Camtasia. Cut clips, add overlays, change captions, and work with your Genie without leaving the app.
- Generate music with Sonilo MiniMax 2.6 and more. And that's just the beginning. Come build with us.

Privacy is the center of Nautilo's approach to the world.
To start, Nautilo rates models from 1 to 10 for privacy. Sensitive subtasks can route to the most private model available, including private Venice models and an E2EE trusted execution model rated 10.
We have deep Venice AI integration (think VPN for models) with @AskVenice
Not every thought belongs in a hyperscaler's API.
The system should be smart enough to know the difference.
We're already working on local model support and support for private inference, running on your own GPU brains for complete privacy over your company's and family's projects and life.
You want to carry your AI with you so you can work together co-creatively everywhere. Desktop control. Terminal. Cloud.
How about Google Suite? Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets open right inside Nautilo.
So do a co-controllable Terminal and Chrome browser. Your Genie works beside you while you watch, click, type, interrupt, or take over. You don't send the work to some invisible automation engine via freaking messenger and pray it works right the first time (although you can do that too if you really want).
You stay right there in the app with her or let her work behind the scenes if you don't want to watch.

Other agent platforms are already leaking data to other people. They won't be able to fix it. Because your agent knows everything about you and LLMs have no larger contextual understanding of the world. They're Mr Meeseeks.
But we fixed it.
We solve that with namespaces.
Your Genie in a public room only knows what you tell it there or what you told it to carry there by deliberately sharing a memory to that chat with your PIN.
It can't leak what it can't access.
That's not a prompt telling the AI to behave and hoping it doesn't screw up. The memory just isn't there. You can't leak what you do not know.
We built a Secretary in the oldest sense of the word: Secret Keeper.
Send your agent out into the world. She only shares what you let her share.
We love WhatsApp and Signal. But today's chat platforms were built before LLMs and agents.
To them, a "bot" is reply-spam software that should be kept out by any means necessary. Use an unofficial agent and you violate their terms of service.
Even WhatsApp's commercial platform doesn't let you put an LLM into a normal group chat.
So we rebuilt chat for the agent era. In Nautilo, people and Genies are native participants. Then we layer in documents, artifacts, editing, tools, and co-creation. Select Genies in group chats easily.
Over time we're working to make it less like just another messenger and more like the pluggable app ecosystem of WeChat for people and machine people (without the built in censorship).
Already in the app stores.

Nautilo is also a harness for other harnesses.
Your Genie can bring in Codex, Hermes, Claude Code, then coordinate the work from your desktop or paired phone.

Your Genie knows kung fu.
Generate video with Nautilo Video right in the app. Then edit it in the same place.
Trim clips. Add overlays. Change captions.
That's co-creativity. That's Nautilo.

Github: github.com/agentsea/nautilo
Most AI apps are still prompt, wait, and pray.
Nautilo is co-creative. We have an entire native app system built in. Writer. Sheets. Slides. Video. Designer.
Your Genie can write, design, generate, cut, and edit. But you don't just have to prompt and hope your AGI doesn't screw it up again. You can take control, manually rewrite the paragraph, move the design, trim the clip, or take over completely.
Same artifact. Same app. Both of you working on it.
Most AI harnesses are built for one person talking to one agent.
But life is social. Your family, company or community work together. You share info. Talk. Change and iterate together.
Nautilo is multi-user and multi-agent from the ground up. People and machine people on an even playing field share ideas and work together.
Most group chats with AI still feel like operating a crappy bot. Tag it with @. DM it. Summon it with the right command.
Nautilo has a magic conversation router that finds the right Genie. Everyone just talks naturally. Your Genie wakes up and answers. Like a person. The others know when to shut up. It's not perfect but it's freaking awesome most of the time for most situations.
Even better, you control the server.
SaaS apps with 1000 people mean 999 potential attackers. But with your own private circle of people you invite to your server, you have control.
