I don't think we should fight. The two companies are complementary. Since you're not doing this AI stuff, I really think Snowflake should consider getting its AI tokens through Databricks. You can get both cheap OSS models as well as frontier (OAI/Ant/Gemini/Grok) models from our platform. It all goes through Unity Gateway which has Smart Routing, Budgets, and Access Control. You can even use Omnigent with any harness, including CoCo. Most of our customers used this to reduce token spend ~30% last few months while token count went up. Genie lets you then track, control, manage that spend, all your financials, marketing, etc. Quick POC?

OBAMA: The president wasn't even mad. About The Saddam Hussein comparison. That part didn't bother him. But he was very upset about The Cheesecake Factory. He took great umbrage. He said I didn't understand the work of the artisans in the White House. They mobilized a whole of government response to that joke. Not to inflation, but to that joke.

Fox News nice
“The defense secretary is laser-focused on very important matters, like the jawline and testosterone levels of our troops.” Former President Barack Obama takes a sarcastic swipe at War Secretary Pete Hegseth during an Atlanta campaign rally, mocking his emphasis on military toughness. Obama then broadens the attack to the Trump administration: “These are not serious people.”

Fearmongering about Muslims as a brown Indian Hindu might work in Uttar Pradesh but in Republican Ohio it makes you look like a cowardly opportunist lacking any sense of self-awareness.

Eight years ago today, 11 people were murdered while gathering to pray at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. My heart is with the families who lost loved ones and the Jewish community still carrying the pain of that day. We must never forget those we lost, and we must never stop fighting antisemitism in all its forms.

Every eligible Indian American voter in Texas should recognize just how much is at stake on November 3. Political complacency is a luxury we cannot afford. Every single one of us should have a hand in determining whether Texas finally sends its first Democrat to the US Senate in 38 years. Turn out in overwhelming, unprecedented numbers. Never underestimate the extraordinary power of your vote. Let’s send a resounding, unequivocal message to every racist bastard arrogant enough to question our rightful place in this country.
🚨 INDIAN AMERICANS in Texas : THIS MATTERS. In the 2022 midterms, nearly half of registered Indian American voters in Texas stayed home , roughly 5 in 10. After everything that has happened over the last two years - the rhetoric, the hostility, the DEHUMANIZATION, the constant debate over whether Indian Americans belong and have a voice in this country , sitting out is NOT an option. You cannot demand representation and then disappear when the votes are counted. I don’t care who you vote for. GET OUT AND VOTE. Indian Americans: SHOW UP.

This is an excellent post by my former boss @RamaswmySridhar. I encourage everyone to read it carefully and fully appreciate the various industries and business models he outlines, all of which have some type of risk of ruin. However I am going to take the other side of this debate and make the ominous "this time is different" argument. Before I start I would to qualify my position, the most likely scenario is a serious market gyration due to an air pocket where supply of AI h/w overshoots demand. The sooner we get there the better but I still think this is very different than 2000 tech bubble and a downturn will be short lived if at all. The two core differences IMHO are 1) Circular financing offered by massively profitable (over-earning) vendors could be a feature not a bug 2) Digital goods in general and more so Tokens (intelligence) have ~infinite elasticity of demand The 2nd one is quite obvious not just because of Jevon's paradox but rather because of the rapidly growing ecosystem of businesses (new and old) that consume tokens to enhance existing services or create new ones. This is especially true because it's still the case that one of the easiest ways to get better outcome is to brute force N attempts in parallel and pick a winner. However (1) is the more interesting one, obviously controversial and admittedly I'm on Hopium as I type this. The scariest part of this CapEx cycle is the fact that GPUs go through rapid cycles of improvement, hence they are perishable goods, so unlike the Dark fiber that was lit up 15 years later, and old GPU is worthless. Given we have plenty of A100s in production it's obviously more complicated but the risk is very legitmate. Before focusing on GPUs/Memory, let's remember that the CapEx bill includes many other components, most of which have far longer lifetime, so one can argue that only 50% of the BOM is perishable. Back to vendor financing, if you look at it from the Chips sector perspective, they obviously want to plan for success and like many others assume that oversupply situation is merely temporary so given they have extremely high gross margin (SK Hynex just reported 80%), they have many ways of handling the air pockets scenarios. The easiest one would be to lower pricing and not hold their customers into the LTA they signed, because most of them are too big to fail and the vendors have no interest seeing the industry collpasing. While "extend and pretend" is often mocked on X, it's a completely logical approach for lenders in commercial real estate. Back to Chips, given the perishable nature and high gross margins, the vendors can keep prices high and offer "trade-ins" for the older equipment.
1/16 the ai industry is making an unusual bet: buy compute for years, sell intelligence by the token. banks, commodity merchants, airlines, utilities and cloud providers each explain a different part of the risk.
