đŁ Quick announcement: Applications are open for the next Character Foundations, our one-day founder masterclass in San Francisco! More info and application link at character.vc/foundations
This is a VERY special event, and one of our favorite days of the year â it's the only time we really pull back the curtain for founders OUTSIDE our portfolio.
⢠What is it? Hands-on workshop where we share our Foundation Sprint, Design Sprint, and other company building methods with founders.
⢠Who is it for? Early-stage founders! Our methods are based on our work with 300+ teams building products, and optimized for the uncertain early days.
⢠When is it? All day September 8.
⢠Where is it? San Francisco.
⢠How much does it cost / What's the catch? It's completely free and equity-free for founders. You just have to apply.
⢠Why should you apply? a) You'll learn something actionable, b) you'll meet some great founders, and c) you'll have fun! I promise :)
Please reach out via comment/DM if you have questions. Thanks for reading!

The first Standard Capital Series A deadline is in 6 days.
Cost: ~1 hour to fill out an application (and the questions help you think about your business).
Benefit: Raise your Series A in 2 weeks with clean terms:
- No board seat
- 10% dilution
- Post-PMF founder community/support for the life of your startup
The value proposition is simple: minimal downside + unconstrained upside.

YC keeps doing this funny thing where they want you to believe that a former Groupon PM is capable of making the very first independently-developed supersonic jet with a seed investment of $120k
lol i wonder how thatâs working out! 𤪠âŚoh shit

In less than 5 years, John Fisher and the @Athletics will have made $40M in profit on their $85M purchase of half of the Oakland coliseum property - selling it for $125M.
With todayâs announcement, AASEGâs 50% interest in the Coliseum property is confirmed to be worth $125M⌠$20M more valuable than the $105M they agreed to pay the City of Oakland for it just last week.
The coliseum sale is clearly a great deal for John Fisher and a great deal for AASEG. But is it a good deal for Oaklanders?
Check out Empower Oaklandâs latest newsletter to better understand the property sale and its implications for Oakland.
