ALT Honour the person: Lighting a candle by their photo, or simply raising a toast to them is a nice way to remember them. Family connection: It is a sad time, but use it as an opportunity for the rest of the family to come together. Therapeutic gardening: Buy a house plant that reminds you of that person, nurture it, and keep it close by over the holidays. New traditions: Continuing traditions is important, but it's also okay to make new ones. Celebrate in a new location and think about how the person would have planned it too. Make a plan for Christmas and have time for yourself. Maybe plan a walk, or go and volunteer somewhere local. Including them is important, but acknowledging your feelings and creating a space for crying and sadness can also help. Acknowledge your feelings to yourself and others, and remember it's okay to be sad and not want to celebrate. Do what feels right for you.
