🔨 Just before for the holidays, Class 2's #ForestSchool time focussed on exploring tools and loose parts. They used bushcraft tools to create some toys & sculptures. 🧶 They also spent time rolling wool to make felt balls, then dyed them different colours. Messy, but very fun!

💝 Happy #Valentines! 🫀 Year 10 have been exploring hearts in a slightly less romantic fashion, but one that may be familiar to a few of us! By dissecting the heart, they were able to see first-hand what it looked like & how it works. No scrolls for the faint-hearted!

🙏 TQ to Neal for this @BylineTimes write-up bylinetimes.com/2025/02/11/t… 📣 'There are moments in life when you’re lucky enough to stumble across something amazing. I give you the New School. It’s amazing because it’s trying to do education in a different way for different ends.'

🔬 Class 1 have been experimenting with using a digital microscope, exploring how they can use it to get a very close look at very small things. First up, a lego man, followed by a pine cone. We're sure there'll be plenty more close inspections to come...🔍 #edutwitter

🎨 During last week's #selfdirected learning some of the young people in Year 8 experimented with different ways of representing their research into different artists. Some incredibly creative and awesome ideas! 🧑‍🎨 #edutwitter

🍕 Class 2 have been practicing their addition & multiplication skills using a medium we can all get on board with - pizza! They placed a certain amount of slices of pepperoni on a number of pizzas, making the concept understandable using visual (and tasty) cues. Yum! #edutwitter

🏕️ Last week in #Forest School, Class 2 put their knot-tying skills to the test, using them to tackle a crucial #survival skill - shelter building! Once built, the tarp shelter helped keep them dry on what was a pretty miserable day! 🌧️ #edutwitter

🐍 This year's #lunarnewyear happened on the 29th of Jan. It is the 'year of the snake', which symbolises rebirth, regeneration & the pursuit of love & happiness! 🐉 To celebrate, Class 1 created an impressive giant dragon out of cardboard, which they used for a dragon dance.

📖 This week, Class 2 used their research skills to learn about #Windrush from books, fact files & pictures, focusing on what the Windrush generation contributed to society. #edutwitter 📝 They wrote down what they found in their own words, working in pairs & small groups.

🪵 During @ForestSchool Class 3 were given a survival challenge. They had to work as a team and build a free standing shelter that could withstand the elements - wind (shaking the shelter) & rain (a bucket of water). They also had to light a fire & cook before sunset. #edutwitter

💬 'My favourite session every term' – A reflection from one of our school staff 🎯 At the beginning of each new term, we do goal planning, which helps our young people create their 'My Learning Plan.' 🍰 We hope there's enough of that ice cream cake to share! #edutwitter

🤝 Class 2 had important decisions to make on class roles for the upcoming term. 📋 Two young people facilitated, making a list of required skills, then used a #sociocratic process, including self-nomination, nominations, and sharing reasoning. Very 'us'! 👍 #edutwitter
