French Catch is full of tricked out little exchanges like this. So much is smooth but so little is just given. The second attempt is jammed by Cheri Bibi so the third morphs and adapts impressively. They would do this again and again in a match.

Scott debuted the Blockbuster Suplex on tv in July 89.
The magazines loved this wild move - but he’d stopped using it by the time they hit the stands around October/November 89.
Definitely prolonged his career taking this one out of the rotation.
These two had such amazing chemistry together. Absolute magic.
38 years ago today - Genichiro Tenryu vs. Jumbo Tsuruta
Perfect psychology in this match! One of the most intense rivalries ever. Tenryu once said, "If I hadn't met Jumbo Tsuruta, I definitely wouldn't have continued being a pro-wrestler"

#NOAHposting day 22: Ikeda vs. Marufuji, 8/19/00: A bit of an attempt from Marufuji to do some more technical/ground based work. He doesn't fare bad, but it doesn't last long before Ikeda just knocks him out cold. Another victim of the 'every move can be a finish' NOAH era

This Bayne dive felt like a larger than life moment, refusing to get lost in a match with so many big spots. Even in 2026, this feels like the sort of thing that she should only do once or twice a year so that it can be made to feel important. Attractions should be protected.

The tournament that changed the face of independent wrestling, which eventually bled to major US promotions, and of all people, it was Nick Bockwinkel who picked the winner while sitting with Red Bastien and some other guy.

In 1998, with his knees giving way and retirement looming, Bad News Allen did what came naturally to him - he issued a challenge to the most dangerous man in Japanese wrestling.
Naoya Ogawa was the target. Allen had been watching closely and liked what he saw... or rather, what he didn't see. "Ogawa lost weight very rapidly, didn't he? I thought there was no way he could be strong like that, so I saw it as an opportunity," Allen told Weekly Pro Wrestling back in 2002.
Allen knew his body was running out of road - his knees were gone. But before he walked away, he wanted one final defining moment. His first match in Japan had been against Seiji Sakaguchi, a fellow judoka. His last, he felt, should have carried the same theme.
"I issued the challenge as my final showdown. I thought it would be interesting if my last fight was also against a fellow judo athlete."
When asked about his chances, Allen did not flinch. "You never know until you try. However, I wanted to show my resolve as a senior in pro wrestling. If he had fought me, he would be at a much higher level by now."
The challenge went unanswered.
