why do some teams win and some lose?
today, I will explain the secret behind how the best pros predict & organize their football teams.
this is also how I helped a team gain over 500% ROI on transfer fees in one season!
a master’s thread 🧵/
You will notice that the bad side often wants to call itself the good side and often uses the language of history and media mythology to dog-whistle itself as such.
The whole point is to create a permission structure for evil to be done in the name of good, such that normal people don’t bother about it.
Socio-cultural values dictate all elections. This explains why people vote the way they do even when their economy is being tanked. They like the socio-cultural reflection of their elected representatives.
shocking election news out of Brazil
Let’s make sure the entire world understands. In Brazil, judicial rulings in connection with federal elections are made by the court that has been in place for that very purpose, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE).
@LulaOficial requested to the TSE that the polls be extended by two more hours in the entire country, citing “transportation problems.” Who controls the transport system? Lula’s government surely more so than a senator running for president.
Instead of waiting for a TSE ruling. @LulaOficial immediately asked Brazilian Supreme Court (STF) justice @Cristianozaninm to order the polls remain open WITHOUT any TSE ruling. Within minutes (did Zanin even read the filing?), the polls were ordered to remain open by Zanin.
The STF has 11 justices. What did Zanin do before becoming an STF justice? Oh yes, he was Lula’s criminal defense lawyer in his corruption cases.
If this blatant rigging of the elections will be used to announce that Lula won, is Lula seriously expecting anyone in the international community to recognize that as a free and fair election? He knows nobody will.
Has the desperation reached a point that today is the day the mask fully comes off and Lula becomes the next Nicolas Maduro? For the sake of Brazil, I pray that is not the case.
not surprised about the news out of Brazil. If you believe you are the “good” side and that your political opponents are the “evil enemy”, the end justifies the means. You’d do anything to win to “save” your version of democracy, including cheating.
Inconsistent talent recruitment, that’s all. Could be down to the managers or could be interference from above, I don’t know. But it’s inconsistent recruitment.
If you are a team expected to create chances and win games, if you don’t have CL-level wingers out wide, you are going to lose & draw a lot. It is what it is.
United should have put in a £70-80M bid for Madueke in the summer.
I don’t know what people expected from United. Their very best players in Maguire and Bruno are, what, 33? They don’t have real wingers except for Amad who is Europa level. And then they added 29-year-old Tielemans who has the legs of a 40-year-old plus a bunch of mid in midfield.
How are they supposed to create chances to win against CL opponents every 4 days? They no longer have the aw shucks luxury of being midtable and disrespected.
By the way, United are fine. Nothing is wrong with them. It will even out once they are out of the Champions League.
Julian has the carry-speed, robustness and pausa we need to alter the dynamics of our frontline.
Kroupi, crucially, lacks the carry-speed and it is still not clear if he is robust enough to consistently at CF.
United are stuck in a bad cycle for simple reasons. They kept buying necessary and unnecessary players for huge amounts of money until, finally, the silver cord broke.
Yoro, Santos, Sesko—all recent, decent to good profiles; all overpriced. And it was much, much worse earlier.
You are Crystal Palace and it is 2021 again. You are about to sign Marc Guehi, but this time for a quoted £50M rather than the £20M—would you still do it?

Brighton exchanging Van Hecke for Vuskovic is a recruitment edge. No large economic gain but the team and its athletic portfolio improved.
the sad thing is that the £80M spend on Tonali was NOT needed at all, especially after the Fernandes transfer.
so the edge here is not in finding a cheaper Tonali but in knowing that the position was not worth investing in
clarity is an edge
