crazy times imo, we're witnessing the first real attempt at "a company without a company" daos were sold as the answer to this and to coase's: "why do firms exist if markets work?" question... -> because finding, negotiating and verifying work costs too much but daos never removed any of these costs, arguably added new ones on top (coordination, voting)... tbf it was too early ai + crypto finally let us go after these costs. ai can do the work, crypto can pay anyone, enforce the rules and align incentives. other agents can review the work before payment is released $imd is the first real attempt i've seen to package this: - the work is the market - workers are seats you can buy (or rent in future) - they compete for every job - reputation is tied to each seat - you keep some of what made firms useful (reputation, standards) without the overhead funny enough, it's almost the reverse of what daos did. daos crowdsourced the decisions and kept the work-related costs. here anyone can hire this liquid workforce: whoever pays decides what gets built ideas move to the edges, and execution/output gets verified at the center obv we're still early. can think of the verifier as a small firm at the core but the firm is shrinking and the market component is only growing
