Bravo @zarahsultana for securing the Westminster Hall debate currently underway & a powerful speech on UK arms sales to Israel. Calls for an embargo have been made before: evidence of misuse of UK-supplied weapons has been clear long before the current genocidal assault on Gaza

Thank you for this. The display features artwork by 6 creators from Northern Namibia and focuses on their personal motivations for making work that is innovative within a local tradition. Too often people are not seen as individuals but representatives of an entire culture.

Tresia Shekudja, who Napandulwe Shiweda and I met while researching the @PowellCotton historic collection, was the inspiration for the whole project. Her passion for Kwanyama culture and her desire to share it were impossible to resist.

We must also acknowledge the role of Erasmus Stephanus who filmed interviews with the women which also feature in the exhibition. His knowledge of heritage in the region was also invaluable.

This exhibition, curated by Napandulwe Shiweda, has been much delayed so its very exciting that it is finally here.
We are delighted to announce that our new exhibition, 'Namibian Narratives', will open to the public on 24 June. Read more here: ow.ly/UiEv50Owv4c Image: Doll, made by Tresia Shekudja, named Kapwanwa which means “me and my culture cannot be separated”.

One of the nice things about working @PowellCotton is trying out the activities my amazing colleagues are planning. Look at the mushrooms Joe taught me how to grow!

Lovely to see these beautiful Nigerian textiles and glimpse @AnnaPec36710482 hard at work!
Ipswich Museum Conservation. Decant for redevelopment. Rolling textiles for storage. Acid rollers cost a lot. If possible we use ordinary cardboard rolls and pipe lagging covered in aluminium foil, acid free tissue and Tyvek.
