Today, we’re pulling the curtain back to unveil SuperMe 1.0: the AI-native professional network, launch Perspective Search, and announce that we’ve raised a $6.8M seed round. How @SuperMeAI works: - Ask a question. - SuperMe finds the right professionals. - Their AI profiles answer instantly, grounded in their real work. It’s how advice really works in business. We’ve just built it into the network. Search is changing. But it has gaps. AI assistants answer without revealing the humans behind the knowledge. Perspectives are lost as blue links turn into one-size-fits-all answers. Perspective Search is our answer to that. We show multiple answers to your questions, from people who have solved your problem before. You can also go deeper by engaging with individual profiles. We’re also excited to share that we’ve raised a $6.8M seed round led by @mduboe at @GreylockVC , joined by some of the most thoughtful builders and operators in tech (see list below). Read the full story in Alex Konrad’s Upstarts and our full launch post in the comment below. When people talk about the small number of amazing consumer outcomes in tech, they tend to think of them as binary luck - flips of a million coins. We don't talk enough about the what if's where the wrong decision or collections of decisions prevented an outstanding consumer outcome. foursquare had a chance to become one. It didn't work out, but I don't fault anyone who was in the arena.
Foursquare was acquired last month. The outcome was disappointing. It's taken me a while to write this, but I think I'm finally done grieving it. Here are some thoughts on our final years, an effort to honor the team who helped build & maintain FSQ's legacy, and my attempt to finally get some closure. teendrama.substack.com/p/som…

Very weird to see Google nuke the product/market fit of their Discover news product by making half of the news links go to Threads, a product they don't even own that sucks.

Before AI: Code was leverage. Code was expensive. So you saved it for the best ideas. AI made code dramatically cheaper, but didn't replace the prioritization mechanism that scarcity created. Now teams can build almost everything. And they ship too many ideas they shouldn't have. More on this and other themes from talking to PM's about AI in my new essay: superme.ai/blog/how-pm-work-…

Whoever decided at Uber that the app needs to re-center on my location all the time instead of the zoomed out view to see how far away the car is, you're wrong. Please stop doing this.

What they don't tell you when you work on growth at a large consumer company is that when said company changes their privacy policy ten years later, they will personally email you a thousand times about it.

Part of what angel investors especially are signing up for when they back your company is to learn from more than their current role. I treat that perk very seriously, and try to make sure they learn as we learn. Doesn't absolve you from reaching out more directly when you want their help. If you hate your investors and don't want them to learn with you, why did you take their money?
founders: only send investor updates when you're winning. Listen has sent 3 in its history. All fundraise announcements. Nobody reads a bad update and helps. They just mark you as dying.

Been using this for some growth stuff @SuperMeAI and not going to lie it's been really impressive. Way more useful than a lot of other tools I've tried. Excited to continue to dig in.
Introducing Grok Bot, now in early beta. Bots are AI teammates that do real work for you. They sign in to your tools, use them just like you do, and come back with finished work.

Not all marketplace GMV is equal. Two marketplaces can generate the same GMV and have completely different businesses underneath. The difference is the quality & durability of that GMV.

On Being an Elder Finally took the time this morning to write down some thoughts I’ve been pondering lately about what it means to be someone in tech who’s been doing this for a while. It’s a reminder for myself as much as anything, but I hope it might inspire you as well.

In 2019, I got the chance to have breakfast with Jim Sinegal, the founder of Costco. Jim is one of a kind: extremely competitive, clear thinking, and disciplined. He’s also downright hilarious. I've finally posted my notes, and hope you enjoy them as much as I did. We discussed Costco's beginning, how it built its brand, competition with Amazon, and how to operate. samgerstenzang.substack.com/…

Being a founder in an AI world feels like needing to build the future before someone else creates an alternative future first. Much more time pressure than in past cycles. You used to be able to take all the time in the world as long as you eventually unlocked product/market fit. Windows didn't close quickly at all. Leads founders to push out less durable ideas so they at least get in the game. Or over-promise and under-deliver with a hype driven narrative the product can't remotely back up. Strange days.

Grocery is a $1.5T domestic market — bigger than restaurants, bigger than hotels. But it's running on technology from the Reagan administration. We just raised a $22M Series B for @VoriHQ to make every supermarket in America autonomous.
