I’ll spend the rest of my life not understanding how the people of this country handed our democracy to a sociopathic sexual predator. Once, let alone twice.

We don’t need four more years of arrogance and bumbling and bluster and division under Donald Trump. America is ready for a better story – we’re ready for a President @KamalaHarris.

Biden could clear 400 electoral votes if he refers to Trump as a 'sick fuck' during the debate tonight and begins every reply with "Felon say what?"

I can't believe I even have to say this, but it is not normal that the Supreme Court is taking its sweet time to decide if a former president is immune from prosecution for inciting an insurrection to overturn an election. This should have been decided already. The answer is no!

NEWS Bronx medical school, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, is now tuition-free thanks to a $1 billion gift from Dr. Ruth Gottesman, a former professor. Gottesman, whose late husband was an early investor with Warren Buffett, has made it a condition of the gift that the college NOT change its name—an unusual requirement in a world where much smaller gifts often come with the requirement that the colleges be named after the donor. Most students at the Einstein College of Medicine graduate with $200,000 in debt; they will now be free of that burden. nytimes.com/2024/02/26/nyreg…

For years we’ve been told that low to moderate alcohol intake could be safe and even sometimes beneficial for us in the case of red wine. A systematic review and meta-analysis published in JAMA of over 100 studies and nearly 5 million people found otherwise. They found no significant reductions in risk of all-cause mortality for drinkers who drank less than 25 grams of ethanol per day (2 drinks), and there was a significantly increased risk of all-cause mortality among female drinkers who drank 25 or more grams per day and among male drinkers who drank 45 or more grams per day. We’ve also since learned that many of the pro-alcohol studies were (unsurprisingly) funded by the alcohol industry, and we’ve seen other studies showing that moderate consumption of alcohol can increase the risk for cancers of the breast, esophagus, head, and neck, and are also linked to high blood pressure and a serious heart arrhythmia called atrial fibrillation. While this may not be the most popular study to share, it’s important to know about it. I like to use this information to make mindful choices about how much alcohol I consume in the context of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. What benefits have you noticed from reducing your alcohol consumption? DOI:10.1001/jamanetworkopen.2023.6185
