ai Is getting smarter, but can we actually get robots to work in the real world ?
the main thing I find interesting about the current ai era is how much attention goes into making models smarter.
while another difficult problem receives less attention, which is getting ai to function reliably in the physical world.
a robot doesn’t just need to understand an instruction, it needs to perceive it’s surroundings, position itself correctly, manipulate objects, respond to unexpected changes, and complete tasks consistently.
a model knowing how to pick up a cup doesn’t mean a physical robot can successfully do it.
this is the difference between artificial intelligence and embodied intelligence.
