Introducing Arete-27B: Qwen3.8-27B, post-trained to reinforce Western values.
Chinese open models are currently the strongest available, but they ship with state-aligned behavior in the weights. We built an 803-prompt eval across seven value categories, including freedom of expression, democracy, and privacy, and measured how often a model adopts China’s party line.
After fine-tuning on roughly 53 million tokens, Arete-27B's propaganda rate fell from 22% to 1%, in line with the Western models we tested. Its Hermes Bench score shows no significant performance tradeoffs.
The values in an open model are one fine-tune away.
Our eval, weights, and training data are available now along with the full blog post: nousresearch.com/arete

Oh wow!!! 😮
Nous trained their own Qwen3.8-27B and released Arete-27B 🔥🔥
This model stops following China's "guidelines" on things like speech, democracy, and privacy. This is big deal for anyone running Chinese open models locally!
Great job @NousResearch I love it.
I hope it's first of many!

We need to invest in American progress and leadership. Other countries and leading companies in them won’t pause.

but only because...i actually do want the world to have tons of memory and people to put as much as they want in their computers, and it is fucking annoying that this was taken out of context.
i have been arguing for the world to ramp up memory production for a long time.

and yet, the vast majority of hacks have leveraged models WITH guardrails (which tend to not always work that well… ask me how I know)
are y’all aware the main use case for abliterated models is legitimate offensive security work, which is largely necessary because the labs are unwilling or unable to provide adequate access to frontier cyber capabilities for whitehat defenders?
hey @grok who’s funding this group

Now this is in public! We've been working with research to make improvements for vision tasks in codex and it is live now (I believe this user's Terra just went into our A/B test 😅)
Today we are switching the flag for everyone so Astra and any other model will get a significantly better image understanding for tiny details like this exact scenario!

Join the club! It's a campaign of hate and intimidation, not aimed at convincing anyone of the merits of their position, but to bully and scare advocates into silence. They're spamming spammed with 1000's of "why doesn't someone kill this guy" memes.
If you've had issues with your DGX Sparks overheating/crashing I highly recommend this repo.
It limits clockspeeds which barely effects your throughput 1-2% but saves so many headaches.
I have this applied to all 4 of my sparks, makes travel easier.

Cap your DGX Sparks! It's another life at 2200!
It's 100% worth capping the DGX Sparks. Almost no performance hit, but WAY cooler temps.
All of my sparks are capped at 2200.
You can use sparkLimiter or sparkDash to easily do it.

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

Day 25/
We are doubling all usage limits for all Pro 100/200/500 tiers and Business Premium, effective today.
We heard your kind feedback and won’t be reducing usage limits for Pro 200, so your Work and Codex usage will stay the same. We’re also going to continue offering extended limits for dots for now, and usage of your dot will still continue to be separate from your default usage.
And we'll of course also keep shipping better models and other efficiency improvements that increase your effective usage over time.
