Thought on Skenes and World Baseball Classic...
Not saying this is his routine, but what if throwing in the typical offseason looks like this:
Regular Season Target - April 1
Oct/Nov - No throwing
Dec - 2/3 days/week
Jan - 4 days/week
Feb/March - 5/6 days/week
(1/2)
Haven't seen anyone discuss Skenes and the World Baseball Classic. Doubt the few extra innings matter. What about the preparation leading up to it?

Really fun day and proud of these kids. They were spent but pushed through.
Really proud of these guys. Rain on Saturday pushed their pool play game to Sunday morning at 8am. Went on to win 4 straight games finishing up at 10:30pm in Canton.

Not long ago, Mason Miller was putting up an ERA over 7.00 in Division III. His fastball topped out around 85.
That kid is now the most dominant pitcher on the planet. Here's the story of the improbable rise of the closer that is breaking baseball.

While we were hoping to see Mason pitch at some point over the last two nights, it didn't work out. Luckily, I was fortunate to catch up with 11 other former Waynesburg players over the last two nights at PNC.
Good read from @colin_beazley Glad to be a small part of his and Mason's story.

Talked to the three Pittsburgh natives who coached Mason Miller, from Bethel Park to Waynesburg to Gardner-Webb, to find out what makes Miller special. Inside the making of Team USA's Pittsburgh-born closer:

Mason Miller sure looks better in #19. He should request it when he goes back to San Diego 🤣
Beautiful Friday night in SW PA tonight. Nothing beats a fire with an @EQTCorp rig in the background.

As promised, here’s the full video of Thomas Hammock’s impassioned remarks on the state of the transfer portal.
Hammock briefly highlighted his own experience as college athlete, saying he considers the lessons he learned in college more valuable than any financial incentive.
“I would do it again for free — *for free.* Because of the things I learned. That’s why I’m standing here today: because of what I learned in college. Not because of how much somebody gave me.”

Was last night's save a sign of things to come for The Reaper?
Don't know the if/when's around him closing for the team, but it's been a heckuva journey for the kid from Bethel Park High. From DIII at Waynesburg to the centrepiece of one the deadline's biggest moves.
