I was reminded today of my chat with @persproj, so thought I'd share. Mental health stigma & internalised shame stop us having open honest conversations - it kills people - we need to hold safe spaces for conversations that may be tough & uncomfortable. theperspectiveproject.co.uk/…

Having an interview with @persproj today...It's so important to talk about #MentalHealth There is still so much stigma, shame, judgement & a lack of understanding connected to narratives around #MH which can be challenged through creativity and the arts #YLYS #StrongerTogether

There is no better role model for young people than someone who places their mental health above public expectation.

how to avoid toxic positivity:
□ just stay positive
☑ that must be really hard
□ everything happens for a reason
☑ i’m sorry you’re going through this
□ look on the bright side
☑ this just really sucks right now. is there anything i can do to support you?

To mark #WorldWellbeingWeek we've created a ‘Little Book of Coping Skills’, full of ideas for anyone feeling anxious, overwhelmed, lonely or low.
The booklet provides our top coping methods people use after finishing their conversations with us. Download: bit.ly/3cWZyPr

ALT An illustration of a man holding a tablet talking energetically to a woman who is seated behind a desk on her laptop in an office. The office has a plant and a painting on the wall. Above it says: "Little book of coping skills" and to the right is the Shout 85258 logo which says "here for you 24/7" underneath.

Too many young people wait too long for mental health treatment. We need the Government to keep investing in NHS mental health services - but also in early support in schools and local communities. news.sky.com/story/almost-40…
