The Phoenix Library, which was built as the first library in Gaza during the genocide, needs your support to stay open. It is going through very difficult conditions and facing high operational costs.
After students, readers, and poets finally found a sanctuary in Gaza, the library is now on the verge of closing. Please do not deprive them, and do not deprive the children of reading and having a safe space to rest.

Last week I was in Cuba. We bore witness to the impacts of the over six decades long U.S. blockade and siege on the people of Cuba. We brought donated medical supplies, medications, and other essential items but this is not a sustainable solution.
The people of Cuba are struggling immensely. There is a dire lack of energy and fuel, leading to blackouts and water shortages. Food costs are high, people can’t afford to feed their families. Medication is unavailable or on extremely short supply.
This blockade maintained by the U.S. must end. Today there was a United Nations resolution on condemning the economic embargo imposed on Cuba. Canada must do more to support the people of Cuba as they continue to suffer the consequences of Western imperialism and interference with their sovereignty, independence, and self-determination. Let Cuba live! 🇨🇺

❤️🐾 Some lives depend on the kindness we choose to show them.
Today, my eldest son Kareem and I went out to put food down for the dogs, just as we do every day. As we watched them gather around us, I was reminded that caring for these innocent souls is about much more than feeding them. It is about recognizing their worth, respecting their lives, and understanding that they, too, deserve gentleness and care.
Here in Gaza, where life has changed so much, these small acts of kindness still matter. I want my children to grow up knowing that compassion is not just something we talk about. It is something we practice, especially when life is difficult.
Kareem is growing up, and I hope he will always remember these moments—not simply as days when we fed the dogs, but as moments when we chose to care for lives that cannot ask us for help in words.
My family and I will keep showing up for them. But sustaining this care for so many dogs takes a circle of people who believe that even the most vulnerable lives matter.

Have you left any house, or any country?” A Palestinian woman shouts at Israeli occupation soldiers blocking the way into the Jaldeh neighbourhood of Hebron, which the occupation army has kept under siege for a fifth straight day. The occupatuon soldiers order residents to go home while barring them from reaching those very homes, then push the crowd twenty metres back.
The siege is part of a sweeping military operation the occupation army launched across Al-Khalil (Hebron) after two Palestinians killed two Israeli occupying soldier terrorists at a nearby checkpoint on occupied Palestinian territory. Since then, more than 3,000 Palestinians have been displaced from the city, and occupation forces have ordered families in the Ein Dir Bahha neighbourhood out of their homes before extending raids to Jaldeh and other southern districts.
Hebron’s governor says occupation soldiers have arrested more than 70 people, stormed over 500 homes, and sealed the governorate with 128 gates and 120 checkpoints. It was at this same blockade that soldiers kicked and beat Hijazi Shawar al-Tamimi, a 70-year-old mukhtar, as he tried to reach his house to fetch his medication.
