Congratulations to Ciara Feely (@phdproductivity) who passed her #PhD #viva today - the first @ml_labs_irl candidate from @ucddublin to do so. Congratulations to Ciara and supervisors @barrysmyth and @CaulfieldBrian and thanks to examiners @Goligolpa and @MauriceMulvenna.

Neat insights from analyzing Strava data from 300,000 marathoners: if you miss a week of training during your marathon build-up, expect to run ~4% slower than you would have.
Note that this number can't be used to claim adjusted PBs or qualifying times.

New paper in @FrontSportsAL with @barrysmyth @CaulfieldBrian @aonghuslawlor examining the cost of a training disruption on #marathon performance. Disruptions of 7 days or more cost a #runner a 5% avg. slow down in their finish-time.

Worried about a disruption in training affecting your race?
@phdproductivity gave us some fascinating insights from an impressive Strava data set
Take home points
- a break probably won’t stop you racing so don’t panic
- it may affect your race time so aim for consistency
Something I hate about being a #statistics college graduate is that I can’t wait in an queue without the Poisson distribution entering my mind

I went from being a Youtube fangirl to having one of my favourite YouTubers (@phdproductivity) join my favourite classroom @BusinessDCU !Hoping that the topics of habits, balance, productivity & focus presented to students, within their particular learning context is helpful!
⭐️⭐️Huge Thank You to Ciara Feely, @PhDProductivity (PhD student of Machine Learning and Productivity YouTuber) for joining @SHealthtruths Master Class yesterday, to give a guest lecture in Goal Setting, Productivity and Project Management specifically for the Practicum Project!

Been spending the bank holiday weekend learning all about 5G and Cloud computing as part of the Huawei Seeds for the Future Programme which has been super interesting from someone with a less computational background like me! Thanks @Huawei #seedsforthefuture

I’m teaching an Intro to programming and CS course, do you know how many *female* students I had this first week who came and told me that they don’t know any programming, they are not sure if they can do it, if CS is right for them? I’ve stopped counting.

Just a reminder that 3 hours of focused work is better than 12 hours of unfocused work.
It’s better to do even 3 hours and take the rest of the day off than push through.

PhD support on YouTube, this is a nice summary!

@LeKissick
Note: My PhD was in Marine Science, but I am now working as a Medical Writer.
That's why it's assumed my PhD was in medical science
Power of career transitioning :)
