Another important anniversary today, as 57 years ago, Naoto Date stepped into the ring. The Tiger Mask anime premiered on October 2, 1969. ​It was shockingly brutal for a kids' show, but it's one of the first ever anime I watched and one of my fondest childhood memories.

I've just realized people might think that Go Nagai drew that sketch for me. 😅 I wish! I've never met him, unfortunately. That's just a pic I downloaded from the internet. What I meant is that Devilman, the first manga I ever read, changed my life.

Loved the Babel II saga so much that I had to get Babel II: The Returner by Takashi Noguchi (17 volumes, serialized from 2010 to 2017). ​Really hope it does justice to the amazing work of Yokoyama-sensei.

せんでもええ部分は省いて、一応俯瞰を残しておく。 この件の要点は、 ①「今どきの子供がなぜか大昔のマジンガーに興味を持って、その形が「丸い」と違和感を感じた」 ②「それを探偵！ナイトスクープが取り上げて永井豪先生に繋いだ」 この2点であると思う。 ②がなければ①は有り得ない。 ①について、「なぜ」と思うということは「なぜ」と思わない別種のロボットが一般的であるという状況が存在する。 ②については、このネタを持ってくる以上は、探偵！ナイトスクープが現状とその経緯について知らぬはずはなく、むしろ百も承知で永井豪先生に繋ぐという物語を演出していると見る。 今なお子供がマジンガーに興味を持つ。 その自明な謎を解くに当たって、今なお健在の永井豪先生が登場する。 この美しい物語が重要なのであり、それを実現したことに大いに敬意を表する。これは歴史に残るだろう。 ここには実は何の説明もない。 鉄人28号がなく、怪タンクもなく、魔神ガロンも魔王ダンテもなく、ザ・ムーンもなく、超合金とそれに連なるロボットアニメブームも、その帰結や逆像として生まれ、産業に至ったガンダムの、ついに一般化された角張った印象もない。 必要ないからである。

I was thinking about this, about how lucky we're here in Italy. Not only do we have one of the largest pools of imported manga in the world, but we also have physical copies of manga that never got a physical release even in Japan.
