Week 1 @industrypickup recap
Pulled out a 6-3 victory against @NBAFantasyBible, but sustained some injuries in the process with Duren & Zubac going down this week
We somehow miraculously won blocks against a Wemby-led team
Still a ton of upside left to tap into as Peterson, Buzelis & Dëmin should only get better
But guys like PG, Dame, and Dejounte came through big this week
Next week we match up with @raphiellej
Labaron Philon Jr. has plenty of college tape that has me believing he’ll have no problem getting into the paint and finishing at the NBA level
But having a floater to lean on will also help a ton, especially when it comes to finishing amongst the trees
Really like that Orlando continues to involve Franz Wagner ( and Paolo 🥲) as the screeners in PnR sets
It allows them to weaponize their playmaking and quick decision making abilities in the short roll
I really liked the Jase Richardson pick by Orlando last season
Jase doesn’t have prototypical size as an off-ball guard
But when paired with someone like Franz, who is a jumbo ball-handler, his lack of size is overshadowed by his off-ball shotmaking
Last season, we saw a glimpse of how impactful LaMelo Ball can be operating off-ball
He’s a dynamic playmaker for sure, but his shotmaking abilities translate as a catch-and-shoot player too
3-pointer by LaMelo Ball
This is elite pick and roll manipulation by Anthony Edwards
He’s super cerebral but still has elite athleticism
So he’s not just able to attack with his pace, but also has the explosiveness to get downhill in a flash
That’s a superstar
Dunk by Anthony Edwards
Sometimes it’s the little things that
Darryn Peterson didn’t get points here, but it was his hustle and tenacity that lead to the fast break
He has great measurements for a guard and really good defensive instincts to build off of
Replying to @pointmadebball
Box score watchers are going to say “but he only has 2 points” because they aren’t seeing him D up
Part of what made Darryn Peterson as good of a prospect as he was coming out of college was that he had the tools & talent to be an elite defender, too
Here, he covers the big, rotates out to close out on Ziaire, and then sticks with him laterally too
Whew, look at how explosive Isaiah Collier is
The stampede cut (timing catching the ball when you’re already going down hill) is so dangerous when done correctly and Collier gets into the paint and to the rim so fast that the defense collapses on him
People low on Ace Bailey pre-draft argued that his skillset wasn’t scaleable to the NBA level
Well, those people were wrong
His shotmaking has translated because Will Hardy weaponizes him off-ball in a variety of ways

#35: Denver Nuggets - Trevon Brazile
Grade: A+
With a glaring hole at backup center, the Nuggets add a player who I think is a steal in Brazile
He had moments of inconsistency at Arkansas, but his playstyle and skillset is tailor made to succeed at the NBA level
He’s not just long and athletic, but he’s got a promising perimeter shot and averaged 1.6 blocks + 1.5 steals per game last year in CBB
Jordi is just saying that he won’t force the two to work
He wants them to SHOW that they can feed off of each other WITHOUT eating at the team in the process
They’re cornerstones of this franchise, and cornerstones needs to prove their solidity before being built around
11 away from the all-time record is crazy
JOKIĆ TONIGHT: MOVES 11 TRIPLE-DOUBLES AWAY FROM THE ALL-TIME RECORD 🃏
35 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists in the @nuggets' 23-point comeback W!
