I don't think poverty is always a choice. No, it isn't. Sometimes, it's a lack of information, access to the right resources, and exposure to opportunities. And more often than we realise, our environment plays a huge role in that. Let me explain with a short story. Sometime in February, during a family get-together in the village, one of my uncles told his nieces how he makes a living rearing guinea fowls and ducks. He didn't just tell them about the business. He shared everything they needed to know. How he started. How much it cost to get started. How he takes care of the birds. Where he gets his supplies. He even shared his suppliers' contacts and stayed in touch with them afterwards. Fast-forward to today, two of those nieces are doing quite well in the same business. They've even started leveraging social media to market their products. Now, imagine if that same uncle took everything he knew and packaged it into a course. Imagine him selling that knowledge for ₦50,000 and getting 200 people to buy it. That's ₦10 million in revenue. Think about that for a moment. He already has the knowledge. He has the experience. He has the results. But here's the thing: he may never think of turning that knowledge into something he can sell because he's not in an environment where people talk about monetising what they know. And he's not alone. There are millions of people with valuable skills, knowledge, and practical experience that others would gladly pay to learn. But they don't see it. They don't know it's possible. Sometimes, all they need is the right information and exposure to a different way of thinking. This is why we need to take knowledge monetisation more seriously. You don't always need to invent something new to build a business. Sometimes, what you already know is valuable enough to become one. Your knowledge could be someone's next opportunity. It's time to start treating it like an asset.

Hot take: Most African edtechs are one leaked Google Drive link away from losing their revenue. Think about it. You spend months creating a course. You package it. You market it. People pay for access. Then one student shares the link with 50 people. Your content is now circulating beyond the people who paid for it. The problem isn’t creating great educational content. It’s protecting and delivering it. African edtechs need better infrastructure for selling knowledge online. Because creating the value is one thing. Keeping control of how it’s accessed is another.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗻 𝗱'𝗢𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. And they didn't even need to create a new rivalry. They simply tapped into one that already existed. For years, 𝗥𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶 𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘀 have argued over who is the greatest. They debate, bring out statistics, and defend their favourites like their lives depend on it. Now, imagine turning that passion into a business. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗻 𝗱'𝗢𝗿'𝘀 “𝗢𝗳 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲” campaign allows fans to vote for legendary Ballon d'Or-winning seasons. Each vote costs €1, and fans can vote multiple times. Reports put 𝗥𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗼'𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟴 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝟲𝟮% 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶'𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟮 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟯%. Now, let's do some business mathematics. 𝟭 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 = €𝟭 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝟭𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 = €𝟭𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 = €𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻. These are hypothetical figures, not confirmed revenue. The actual number of paid votes remains unknown. But here's the marketing lesson: 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱. Smart businesses understand this. So, before you start creating a product, ask yourself: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁? 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗻? 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀, exporting your final cut is only half the job. You still have to 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘁, 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸, 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗱. 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝗽𝗩𝗶𝗱 helps you manage the process in one place, without constantly switching between tools. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄: 𝟭. 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. Share your finished edits through a 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝗽𝗩𝗶𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 instead of relying on messaging apps that may compress your videos. 𝟮. 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸-𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵. Share your video for review, collect 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, and let clients approve it or request changes all on SnapVid without leaving the platform. 𝟯. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀. Don't want a client downloading or freely accessing your work before payment? Use passwords, expiry dates, and dynamic watermarks to help control access to your videos. For unpaid projects, you can restrict access to a shared video by changing its access settings, where supported, until payment is settled. These controls help protect your work, though they don't replace clear payment terms. 𝟰. 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼𝘀, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. SnapVid supports video streaming designed to work on 𝗹𝗼𝘄-𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗱𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, so clients can watch your work without downloading the entire file first. 𝟱. 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀. Upload large video files to SnapVid and let the upload finish while you handle other parts of your workflow. Upload time will still depend on your file size and internet connection. 𝟲. 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲? Here’s how the traditional process usually works: 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘁. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹. You collect their details. Then you give them access to the video. That’s a lot of steps before they even experience the value of your lesson. And some people will drop off along the way. 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝗽𝗩𝗶𝗱, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼. Even better, you decide when the form appears. At the beginning. After a few minutes. Or 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱. So instead of asking for their details before they experience the value, you can capture the lead when their interest is higher. Give value. Build interest. Capture the lead. All inside the video. 𝗧𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝗽𝗩𝗶𝗱: 𝘀𝗻𝗮𝗽𝘃𝗶𝗱.𝗼𝗿𝗴
