Our Bittensor Brand Performance Report is now live.
We analyzed 12 months of media coverage, social presence, and search visibility across the Bittensor ecosystem, benchmarking it against both crypto and Web2 competitors.
Here’s what we found: The seven subnets we analyzed have collectively received over $90M in owner emissions and are shipping real products that compete with well-funded Web2 companies, yet they remain largely invisible outside the ecosystem. The good news is that the few subnets that have invested in their brands are already seeing results. The opportunity is there for the rest to follow.
Featuring @chutesai_ (SN64), @TargonCompute (SN4), @webuildscore (SN44), @BitMindAI (SN34), @ridges_ai (SN62), @VantaTrading (SN8), and @lium_io (SN51).

Bitcoin is now being absorbed by Wall Street. @bittensor is positioning itself as the opposite force, aiming to decentralize AI in an era dominated by Big Tech.
With $TAO down over 50% in 2025, supporters still call it a next-generation $BTC for the AI age.
But how realistic is that comparison?

if you're a new sn owner, who do you get funds from?
bitstarter vs yuma vs whoever? these groups have $3m to $10m. that is a small angel investor in web2.
why does const post about "raising funds on predatory terms" every couple weeks?
why are successful subnets like chutes and ridges trading at a 80% to 90% discount from their web2 counterparts?
the root cause is clear:
THERE ARE NO SUBNET INVESTORS
THERE ARE NO SUBNET INVESTORS
THERE ARE NO SUBNET INVESTORS
for the past 1-2 years, Bittensor has been focused on allocating the right emissions to the right subnets. there are 3+ major protocol upgrades and significant progress to show for it.
what's the solution?
make a concerted effort to onboard the next set of investors to lower the technical, educational, and relationship barriers
we need to make subnet investing competitive.
- if investing is competitive, sharky deals get outcompeted.
- if investing is competitive, investors convert $100k+ into alpha and back out without going through 5 different swaps and bridges.
- if investing is competitive, money becomes another commodity like in web2 or web3 for Bittensor teams to launch the next waves of innovation.

My takeaway from yesterday is that the Bittensor pitch is still pretty complex and would benefit from being simplified. But it was extremely valuable to be able to experiment with different explanations with Thread.
Regardless of how complex Bittensor is, I still think its success is inevitable. And that's because even now with how complex it is, you still have Subnets that have broken into the mainstream like Chutes, selling to enterprises like Targon, and being used by developers like Ridges.
The ins and outs of Bittensor don't need to be clearly understood for one to comprehend what a Subnet is working on and why its investable. All one needs to know is holding TAO gives one exposure to all Subnets

Introducing the Subnet Growth Model (SGM):
kariscrypto.com/sgm
my proposal for a standardized subnet valuation methodology. read / download / send for free.
the goal of this paper is twofold:
1⃣ to present for comment a simple but reliable subnet valuation methodology that can be used by both institutional and retail investors alike, and
2⃣to encourage subnet ownership teams to present reliable, (eventually) audited financials that can be used to carry out the methodology outlined above, both of which will inspire further confidence in subnet investing at scale.
take it. use it. expand it. build on it. just give me reference if you build something cool on the idea; and in the spirit of open-source please keep whatever you build free and open to all.
we also have a fun partnership in the works with @TrustedStake to create some automated tooling on a new dedicated url (subnetmodel.ai) coming soon:
✏️ subnet ownership teams will be able to self-report cash flow projections (revenue, expenses, other considerations).
🖥️ as an investor, you will be able to enter your own r (required rate of return as an investor) and g (expected growth rate for a subnet's cash flows) to calculate justified value (fundamental alpha price in USD and alpha/TAO).
💹 we will also pull in auto-feeds for price and alpha outstanding to determine an implied r based on current market price. this will allow you to compare a standardized "yield" for multiple subnets similar to a YTM calc for fixed income securities (see paper and screenshot below).
special thanks to @kenjon for help on the sn34 @bitmind case study to test utility 🔥🔥 ken is a legend
and to @pr_validator for a series of fun conversations that led to the SGM 🧠🧠

Had a great time chatting with @Scobleizer , as a note to my last point: if anyone is able to revive @BerkeleySETI network in collaboration with @UCBerkeley @SETIInstitute as a subnet, you have my full backing and support. That whole project should have been a subnet.

If you aren't paying attention to Bittensor, you should. I am seeing more and more companies building on it, and using it to run their infrastructure.
This is the most important interview I've done this year.

Tomorrow I will run an interview with a @Bittensor cofounder that I did today (and I have a second one with another decentralized AI computing pioneer).
Decentralized computing is how we get to super intelligence in a much more resilient way than closed source, walled garden LLM-based systems.
Even @garymarcus will find it eye opening.

With 8M+ expected in 2025, urgent regulation, detection tools & media literacy are key to protecting digital trust.
