Asim Ali is by some distance the most acute analyst of desi politics.
I write on Sharjeel Imam as a committed democrat who deserves a place in a radical democratic project of the future, one focused on the liberty and equality of all.

Something huge happened in Indian geopolitics over the last 7 days, and most people didn't even notice.
IT WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY BOOKS
- America was looking for a crude oil refinery for Venezuelan oil.
- Only Indian refineries were geopolitically safe, cheap, and well connected.
- America had no other option than to deal with India to refine its oil.
- But they knew that refining oil in India meant India would control their oil exports and could threaten them over other things.
- The only way to overcome this issue was to install a puppet government, and refine oil without any major threat.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
- That's why they planted CJP, amplified their reach with help of Meta and X, suppressed Indian right wing posts, made Congress, AAP & whole left wing to unite and push for regime change.
- They went all in, but still, the masses in India didn't even care and all the protests flopped. People of this country only see Narendra Modi as a capable PM candidate.
- America knew that it wouldn't be able to bring about regime change this quickly and that it would take a hell of a lot of time.
- They had no option left, so without wasting any more time, they finally proposed a deal to India.
- All the protests have gone immediately silent since then.
- Most of the tariffs have been lifted from India.
- America gave India the green signal to buy Russian oil.
Now, if the deal gets finalised, India will have America by the neck. And it would be a golden opportunity for India to grow and export globally.
This is literally the biggest geopolitical win we have had in this decade.

Assume this is correct: Isn't it in the BJP's interests to maintain status quo, thereby continuing to weaken the Opposition? Why bang on about it? "Never interrupt an enemy when he is making a mistake", someone said.
Or is the banging-on a sign of nervousness?

Folks, we custom-built an escape-room like game! Dogfooded it internally, and was a riot.
90-minutes.
An Alter event unlike any other. (would expect nothing less)
A cracking article that takes you on a rich and complex journey on how India saved the tiger.
Only 50 spots!
In the 1970s, scientists from an institution wanted to study tigers in India. They were turned away amid war and suspicion of CIA links. They took their research to Nepal instead, and their work there ended up proving India’s tiger count wrong.
This institution was founded in 1846 with money bequeathed by a British chemist who never once set foot in the country that now hosts it. Its collections include the Hope Diamond, Dorothy’s ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, and Charles Lindbergh’s Spirit of St. Louis.
Name the institution. (answer in the next tweet)
Alter Issue #7 event is a riot for all. It decodes India's rich history in saving the big cat. But...
But...
We custom-built a game for the event. 50 people in one room with ninety minutes to untangle an escape-room puzzle that will stretch your mind, test your friendships, and demand you win over a room of rivals and allies.
The objective is simple: FIND THE TIGER.

Who is Mohan Bhagwat to lecture the nation?
Head of an unregistered, amorphous organisation that answers to no law, no accountability, and no Constitution.
Yet @RajatSharmaLive presents him as the conscience-keeper of India.
This is the same Bhagwat who stays silent when citizens are lynched, silent on SIR irregularities that disenfranchise millions, silent on the systematic othering of minorities, and silent as democratic institutions are hollowed out.
Forked tongue. Selective morality. Zero legitimacy.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has warned those who are talking about regime change through public unrest.
He said, democracy in India has strong roots; neither did regime change happen in the past nor will it happen in future.
Bhagwat said, those who do not agree with the conspiracy for regime change should look at what is happening in France, Italy and Albania.
The RSS chief’s message is clear : both the RSS and BJP are on the same page as far as anti-Modi protests are concerned.
Bhagwat lashed out at Prashant Bhushan’s ‘regime change’ remark and Neha Bora’s call for a Bangladesh-type revolt.
He is quite clear that the agitation against CEC is only a façade and the real aim is to unseat Narendra Modi.
Modi's opponents are going to find Mohan Bhagwat's another comment hard to swallow.
Bhagwat said, the RSS, through its vast network, contacted nearly 10 crore families across India, organized 'yuva sammelans', and directly contacted more than 3.9 million youths.
All anti-Modi political parties, left outfits and so-called civil society people combined do not have the strength to match the RSS even one per cent, as far as direct contact is concerned.
