I really hope we keep those early llm models stored somewhere for a long time and then you can have young people 30yrs from now try them out and feel the progression we are feeling now.

And just like that, hardware became more valuable
Gemini 4 Argon taught a robot to play cornhole just by watching a video. It mapped the physics, coded its own simulation, and taught @Apptronik's Apollo humanoid to sink 7 throws in a row.

Concerning for everyone tbh
It's OVER for accountants? Look at these numbers. Mercor put 12 licensed CPAs, averaging 5.5 years of experience, up against frontier AI on four accounting tasks. The humans averaged 37%. Claude Opus 5 scored 100% across all 20 attempts, finishing each in under 10 minutes. Most human attempts took 30–180 minutes. Just 18 months ago, the best AI couldn't beat the average accountant on these tasks. Now it beats even the best participant. Mercor wanted to measure how much AI could help accountants. But AI alone scored perfectly, leaving no room for improvement.

This is a big deal
Our clinical trial participants have now used their Neuralink implants for over 50,000 hours, building one of the largest datasets of intracortical neural activity ever. We used it to pretrain a foundation model for BCI: self-supervised neural encoders that turn noisy, drifting spikes into stable representations. Some initial results: • Decoders that keep working for weeks instead of days. For some users, calibration dropped from 10 min/day to 10 min/week • Teleporting cursors that jump straight to the intended target • A new cursor-control record of 11.32 bits per second (exceeding the performance of most able-bodied people) We’re just getting started. Future directions include pooling data across participants, one-shot (or zero-shot) calibration, and an API for the motor cortex. Read more: neuralink.com/updates/pretra…

How did I miss this. Love the concept!
HopTo’s Hop-1 is a hybrid hopping-and-flying robot built for rough terrain. It looks weird at first, but the logic is actually pretty smart. Flying all the time burns a ton of energy just fighting gravity, so they let the robot spend most of its time bouncing on a passive spring instead. The rotors mainly steer, put back the energy lost on each hop, and only fully take over when the robot actually needs to fly. HopTo says hopping uses around 25% of the energy of continuous flight. So the whole idea is pretty simple: stay on the ground as much as possible, and only fly when you have to.

We are experiencing the midwit meme live folks, opus5.5 entering the midcurve and seeing worse performance than sonnet5.5 lmao. The only way is through!

The fact that a machine can generate content that highjacks your dopamine system at will is scary. Social media is about delivery of human generated content to the right person but the new era is a personalized feed of machine generated content just for you and you can't stop watching. I really am optimistic that we'll figure this out and have amazing abundance from ai but you can't ignore the risk.
Made with Claude Opus 5.5. The fearmongering about AI always makes us forget that NOTHING WENT FOOM, as was always predicted. Send this to your doomer friend who has a very high P(Doom). Accelerate.

That looks sick, love the design. The future is starting to look like the future!

If AI increases productivity so much it should be deflationary why are rates going up?

I've had so many scam phone calls I don't answer the phone unless it's already in my contacts. Sucks that a few people ruined phone calls for everyone. Maybe there should be a dns for phone numbers that is trustworthy and you can know it's a legit call?
