No, actually this is true. When I lobbied Dems for trans rights in Illinois, it became VERY apparent that they, the politicians, were used to a phone call here or there at most when it came to “pressure.” They did NOT like me scheduling meetings to speak *critically* with them

You might have forgotten, but I haven't. The majority of right wingers are the same homophobes they always were.
I never thought I’d say this, but it turns out that most of the people on the right make better allies for the LGB community than lefties do. Lefties want to push gay kids and lesbians into transitioning, and to force lesbians to accept men in our dating pool and in lesbian spaces, while the right mostly just wants to leave us alone and be left alone in return — which is all we’ve ever wanted. It’s not the right who are pushing young lesbians into having sex with men, or who call them fetishists and perverts when they refuse, but our so-called “allies” on the left.

Many Trans leftists want to feel like hated when in reality a lot of people don’t hate you. They just believe biological sex matters.
If someone supports your right to medical transition, employment, housing but not sports they don’t hate you. They just don’t buy that you are exactly the same as a cis person.
You can’t demand ideological purity from voters.
