I started an essay series at @regenfoundation to unpack what it means when we peg economic value to ecological regeneration. The ethical and technical challenges are vibrant and complex. I’m releasing the first essay “Undualing” soon. Here’s a rant 🧵 to whet your palates. 1/8

Some notes for Joe Manchin:
1. DC Statehood does NOT require a constitutional amendment. Congress CAN grant 700,000 Americans a vote & fair representation.
2. You said you don't support #ForThePeopleAct as written, but you co-sponsored it in 2019. What gives @Sen_JoeManchin?
NEW: Joe Manchin has come out AGAINST the DC statehood bill, dealing a major blow in a 50-50 Senate.

Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday - If you don't have a charity you're supporting, please consider @PotomacRiver. I volunteered w/ PRKN last summer, and they're an incredibly effective advocate for clean water regulations on the Potomac

It took nearly 3 weeks for the National Capital Region to go from 0 to 1,000 cases of COVID-19. It took 3 days for the region to go from 1,000 to 2,000 cases in DC, MD, and VA. This is a rapidly evolving and escalating emergency which is now surrounding the nation’s capital.

You know what capitalism needs to thrive in the long run? A functioning government.
Center down.
And when your body has become still,
reach out with your heart.
Know that we are connected
in ways that are terrifying and beautiful.
(You could hardly deny it now.)
Know that our lives
are in one another’s hands.
(Surely, that has come clear.)

This seems like a good time to mention that Abraham Lincoln held a free and fair election in the middle of a civil freaking war.

📍 The map is live. Same idea as the spreadsheet but you'll now be able to visualize every new case in the DC area by location and get a breakdown by county.
Like the sheet, it's a work in progress—anything you'd like to see, give me a shout.

"And then you have Trump, whose craven monologue of a presidency has been exposed, this week, for what it is: the desperate act of a performer who has no plan beyond whipping up a crowd... Eventually, all viruses run their course."
Here's to hoping.
