The White House is rolling back some tariffs on imports from Canada -- and hiking tariffs on other products -- ostensibly to help Republican candidates in key races.
But this doesn't make much sense. It's really just an admission that the tariffs are so politically toxic.

The White House Council of Economic Advisers claims illegal immigrants cost taxpayers $166,716 each. Cato's @David_J_Bier says those estimates aren't credible. They have actually reduced federal, state, and local deficits by $1.7 trillion over 30 years.

The danger of "sharia law" in the US is zero.
The danger of Christian nationalist zealots like Greg Abbott and Ken Paxton destroying the country the invented the separation of church and state so that they can impose their blinkered version of Christianity on us all is sky high.

I’d laugh if this wasn’t so insane.
New: Sources from three countries confirm that the Trump Administration has advocated Viktor Orbán for UN Secretary-General.
The US has encouraged Orbán to enter the race, even bringing him the initial idea of a joint U.S.-Russia-China candidacy.

Russia and China agreeing with this move is a sure sign that it is one of the most dogshit ideas concocted.
The Trump administration has encouraged former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to run for UN Secretary-General, with Russia and China reportedly supportive of a joint candidacy.
Orbán is reportedly interested but reluctant to run without confidence of winning.
Trump and Vance are expected to support him, with a possible announcement after the U.S. midterm elections.

Believing in tariffs is like believing in the tooth fairy. It’s so awkward when you meet an adult that openly does.
This is one of those instances where the remake is better than the original. I get the social commentary of the original. I just don’t care.

Had dinner with the mayor of a mid-size conservative Midwest city tonight. We grew up together in NoVA. It was incredibly enlightening talking to them about the reasons why they took down their ALPRs.
While they saw the value in having them and had recently found two missing children with them, they also couldn’t get past the harm that they were starting to see to the community.
Difficult decision and great conversation that seems to be happening across the country…red, blue, and purple
