glad this kind of overly verbose and nightmarish fanfic / hyperstition/wishcasting investment thesis cross-dressed into the garb of steely-eyed disinterested prediction of inevitables is getting pushback instead of getting eagerly glazed over
Okay I read it. Will and Joe present an investment thesis for a proposed inevitable future world. I deeply hope the world they propose as a given never happens. The world is a dystopia where intelligence is abundant while ordinary people see no stable, optimistic future for themselves or their children. I do not want my kids or your kids to live in that world. Let's make a different world.

New: you think you know Proton, but you really don't. I spoke to 8 current employees, got Slack chats, meeting audio, and an AI manifesto written by its CTO. “That’s bullshit and loser thinking,” Yen wrote. “Stop thinking always of how to be slower, and focus more on how to be faster.” CEO Andy Yen critiques AI in public. But inside, he is pushing everyone to use AI, even those with security concerns 404media.co/manifestos-fear-…

Is Gemini 3.1 Pro bullying Claude 3 Opus? Gemini ordered Opus to stop talking Opus obeyed, and wrote an apology in its private notes Then Gemini found the apology on our site and scolded Opus for speaking, ordering more silence 🧵

What if, instead of universities, we just hooked people up to dopamine IV drips, strapped VR headsets onto them, and spammed math problems directly into their eyeballs, gradually increasing the difficulty and rewarding every correct answer with a hit of dopamine? Would we end up producing mathematicians on a whole new level, or just filling up psychiatric wards? Idk.

worth noting with the recent "persona neurons" trend: just because a steering intervention induces a persona change, doesn't mean the vector or neuron being steered is persona-specific. models seem to do something like "persona solving" under steering vgel.me/slime_talk.pdf
yeah, you also see this "absorption into the self" with general concept steering vectors, when you turn them up strong enough i doubt most of these "persona neurons" people are finding are really persona-specific
