When I say “we are hillbillies” what I mean is we have random crap everywhere and the “tin” on our sheds doesn’t match because mismatched “tin” is only 9$ a sheet and we don’t care. Also, my husband can fix anything, we eat vermin, and we love Jesus! Also, we blurt out obvious truths that might hurt your feelings, but dang, bless your heart, some one shoulda told ya already. How rude that they didn’t.
After my mom died (of cancer) my brother and I had my dad take out long term care insurance. Families need to have these conversations and do what works for them.
One summer I brought up my parents moving in with us and it turned into a heated argument.
I was trying to get my mom to make a plan for potential illness or injury. I asked, “what’s the plan if you fall and break your hip?” She said that wasn’t going to happen, asked why I was picking a fight and was in no way going to consider leaving the home and community they had lived in for 40+ years.
I kid you not 2 months later I got a phone call. My mom had fallen and broke her hip.
My dad needed full time care due to his cancer recovery.
Same day I hoped on a plane and flew across the country to deal with it. This was the 4th time I had to drop everything and fly out for an emergency in 2 years.
When my mom was discharged I sat down with my parents and said, “Your decisions are making me choose between you and my children. You have lived wonderful full lives, they have not. They need their mom with them. The next time I hop on a plane in an emergency to take care of you two, it’s to bring you back with me. If you want to stay here, then you’re going into a full time care facility. Expecting that your children to take care of you at the expense of your grandchildren because you don’t want to leave San Diego at the age of 80 isn’t right.”
They hadn’t thought of it that way. They were apologetic, and much more open to discussing the home they’d move into if they didn’t move in with me.
I’m sharing because recently I’ve seen many posts from others in similar situations, and thought maybe this line of conversation may help.
They don’t mind making their own kids lives harder but hurting their grandkids? That they care about.
My 14 year old is asked by almost ALL of his friends why he isn’t allowed to play Roblox… I can’t believe so many parents let their kids play it.
Tomorrow is the 8th anniversary of my Mom’s death; she was only 65. Please pray for Merry’s soul tomorrow, and anytime you think of her. When she was sober she was an amazing mom. She was a lot of fun.
My neighbor’s 11 year old grandson got his first deer tonight, and he was so excited the drove it over to show us!
What an honor! It was a clean and humane shot. He did a good job.
Woke up and my son’s first words to me were about the 6 live lost to violence at a funeral mass in Jordan.
😭😭😭
Pray for these families please.
I lost my temper at the post office today. I went postal you could say.
I have a really bad temper, and rarely do I let it loose. I mean, it took over. I didn’t let it do anything.
Anyway…. So, after I left, I realized that they didn’t even give me both packages even though the one in my hand said 2of 2…
Also, these packages were replacements for packages USPS delivered to only God knows who - they said delivered “to garage” but I never got them and I don’t have a garage.
So, big box stores do serve a purpose. You can just walk in, buy what you need, and go home.
Jobs in middle Tennessee be wild.
*a “program support specialist” in charge of ensuring vulnerable adults receiving in home care are properly cared for and laws are being followed. 16$ an hour.
*in home ELA tutor 60-90$ an hour + NDA.
We are so cooked fam.
Seriously though, the gentry is alive and well.

Unfortunately, my breathing has worsened overnight, and my oxygen levels have dropped. I've contacted fire dispatch, and EMS is on the way to assess me and determine whether I need to go to the ER.
I suspect that, with the chronic condition I deal with, they will take me to the ER. Without my iPhone, I won't have any way to contact anyone or provide updates until I get home. I also have no idea how I'll arrange transportation home afterward. That's honestly frightening.
Please keep me in your prayers.🥹
I'm very anxious tonight and really need some prayers. I had to take my iPhone to the Apple Store for a problem that developed. They have to keep it overnight, so I'm home without a phone. I managed to afford an Uber home, but I'll need to figure out the cost of getting back there tomorrow to pick it up.
Unfortunately, we're also having a storm with blowing dust here in Arizona, and it's triggered my severe asthma. I've used my emergency inhaler and am using my nebulizer. But I'm having a hard time breathing and may need to go to the ER overnight.
It took me over an hour to figure out how to contact emergency services without a working phone. I finally found an app that lets me call the local fire dispatch number over Wi-Fi, and a very kind police dispatcher explained how to get an ambulance if necessary.
But Lord, it's scary. I'm autistic, I've been dealing with burnout for years, and after hours at the Apple Store and everything else today, I'm completely overwhelmed and overloaded. I'm trying not to have an anxiety attack on top of the asthma.
I'm home alone. I'm frightened. I'm exhausted. And I'm trying not to cry because crying will only make my breathing worse. This effing sucks.
I just need some prayers and a few kind words tonight, so I know I'm not alone. Please!🥹

This sucks on so many levels, but also we need to normalize sending invoices to companies who put people through 4, 5, 6, 7 interviews with no offer until this ungodly process stops
You get two interviews and if the third isn’t an offer you’re getting billed. Stop wasting time
Ugh you guys okay so Bad news: my hubs got laid off again a few months ago.
Good news: we are handling it better than last time 🤪.
Spoiler before the ramble: I’m not about to ask for help lmao plz do not help 🥲🫶🏻. Love yall. If you’re the praying sort, though, please do pray for us.
Anyway, yall know how I felt about LLMs already, but I hate them even harder because the CFO at his company literally just ✨asked Claude✨ if he should cut the marketing dept and replace them with an agency and then did what the robot told him to do.
Didn’t even talk to anyone’s bosses about it. Hubs boss was upset, even.
Listen, I know “it’s just business” but I’m just so tired of everyone’s dysfunction.
I could lay it all out for you. The jacked up dynamics at that company - the particular madnesses of the C-suite and their gaps in communication. I see it clearly and I wish I didn’t because what’s the point??
But anyway, I won’t. No one needs to read all that. 🤪
Our runway has been perilously short. It be like that.
J (it feels weird to use hub first initial bc Luinalaska has a J 😂😂. I wonder if her J is the same J as my J - though they are certainly very different men except for the fact that they both love their wives really well) hit the ground running. A billion applications sent. Interviews on interviews.
He has a group of colleagues that practice presentations and do mock interviews together and encourage each other. I’m so proud of him for that.
There have been so many interviews. One day, he had 4 interviews back to back with 4 diff companies.
He’s made it through 4 rounds, 5 rounds a few times and still didn’t get those jobs.
Most recently, he went through 6 rounds of interviews with a company he would love to work for, followed by an email (I wish I could share it lol - yall could see 😭) that SUPER sounded like the meeting scheduled for today was going to be an offer-meeting.
But guess what? SURPRISE! ANOTHER INTERVIEW!! That makes seven rounds of interviews for that company. SEVEN 😭😭😭.
It went great though. They didn’t reject him - we are just still waiting to find out if they choose him.
He has some contract work, thank goodness, and we are cobbling some things together. Don’t worry for us 💜.
But do please offer a prayer for favor this time if you think of it. I really thought we were going to be out of the woods today and I don’t even know if it’s reasonable to feel so discouraged.
Could be I’m just really tired and ought to be going to bed now 🫠
Multiple interviews and no rejections is common now. I hate it.
It disregards personal dignity and the value of your time - which is NOT a great way to start any job, but most employers hire this way now…
So you can know they do not regard your time as valuable to you - they are entitled to it - right up front…. OH, AND, they do not see you as a human person with inherent dignity either. You are just a commodity they invest in, hoping for a decent ROI, and nothing more.
My husband is trying to explain to his liberal aunt (who is more of a mom to him than his mom), that it isn’t okay to flash bang our adult kids with newly transitioning or newly out gay -long lost relatives. That this can be very awkward as an on the spot spontaneous lunch.
And SHE is one of the reasonable ones.
Like maybe just give them a heads up that there is an announcement to be made at least?
