Unfortunately, my breathing has worsened overnight, and my oxygen levels have dropped. I've contacted fire dispatch, and EMS is on the way to assess me and determine whether I need to go to the ER.
I suspect that, with the chronic condition I deal with, they will take me to the ER. Without my iPhone, I won't have any way to contact anyone or provide updates until I get home. I also have no idea how I'll arrange transportation home afterward. That's honestly frightening.
Please keep me in your prayers.🥹
I'm very anxious tonight and really need some prayers. I had to take my iPhone to the Apple Store for a problem that developed. They have to keep it overnight, so I'm home without a phone. I managed to afford an Uber home, but I'll need to figure out the cost of getting back there tomorrow to pick it up.
Unfortunately, we're also having a storm with blowing dust here in Arizona, and it's triggered my severe asthma. I've used my emergency inhaler and am using my nebulizer. But I'm having a hard time breathing and may need to go to the ER overnight.
It took me over an hour to figure out how to contact emergency services without a working phone. I finally found an app that lets me call the local fire dispatch number over Wi-Fi, and a very kind police dispatcher explained how to get an ambulance if necessary.
But Lord, it's scary. I'm autistic, I've been dealing with burnout for years, and after hours at the Apple Store and everything else today, I'm completely overwhelmed and overloaded. I'm trying not to have an anxiety attack on top of the asthma.
I'm home alone. I'm frightened. I'm exhausted. And I'm trying not to cry because crying will only make my breathing worse. This effing sucks.
I just need some prayers and a few kind words tonight, so I know I'm not alone. Please!🥹

This sucks on so many levels, but also we need to normalize sending invoices to companies who put people through 4, 5, 6, 7 interviews with no offer until this ungodly process stops
You get two interviews and if the third isn’t an offer you’re getting billed. Stop wasting time
Ugh you guys okay so Bad news: my hubs got laid off again a few months ago.
Good news: we are handling it better than last time 🤪.
Spoiler before the ramble: I’m not about to ask for help lmao plz do not help 🥲🫶🏻. Love yall. If you’re the praying sort, though, please do pray for us.
Anyway, yall know how I felt about LLMs already, but I hate them even harder because the CFO at his company literally just ✨asked Claude✨ if he should cut the marketing dept and replace them with an agency and then did what the robot told him to do.
Didn’t even talk to anyone’s bosses about it. Hubs boss was upset, even.
Listen, I know “it’s just business” but I’m just so tired of everyone’s dysfunction.
I could lay it all out for you. The jacked up dynamics at that company - the particular madnesses of the C-suite and their gaps in communication. I see it clearly and I wish I didn’t because what’s the point??
But anyway, I won’t. No one needs to read all that. 🤪
Our runway has been perilously short. It be like that.
J (it feels weird to use hub first initial bc Luinalaska has a J 😂😂. I wonder if her J is the same J as my J - though they are certainly very different men except for the fact that they both love their wives really well) hit the ground running. A billion applications sent. Interviews on interviews.
He has a group of colleagues that practice presentations and do mock interviews together and encourage each other. I’m so proud of him for that.
There have been so many interviews. One day, he had 4 interviews back to back with 4 diff companies.
He’s made it through 4 rounds, 5 rounds a few times and still didn’t get those jobs.
Most recently, he went through 6 rounds of interviews with a company he would love to work for, followed by an email (I wish I could share it lol - yall could see 😭) that SUPER sounded like the meeting scheduled for today was going to be an offer-meeting.
But guess what? SURPRISE! ANOTHER INTERVIEW!! That makes seven rounds of interviews for that company. SEVEN 😭😭😭.
It went great though. They didn’t reject him - we are just still waiting to find out if they choose him.
He has some contract work, thank goodness, and we are cobbling some things together. Don’t worry for us 💜.
But do please offer a prayer for favor this time if you think of it. I really thought we were going to be out of the woods today and I don’t even know if it’s reasonable to feel so discouraged.
Could be I’m just really tired and ought to be going to bed now 🫠

Another friend of mine (eldest of a large family) just sent this to me after all her siblings were removed from their home due to educational (homeschool) neglect:

We're allowed to criticize people who are pretending to homeschool as a cover for just doing nothing for years. 🤷🏻♀️

I've been reading a lot of Flannery O'Connor stories this hitch.
What fascinates me w/O’Connor is her dramatic presentation of grace as freely offered and freely rejected(it's usually rejected in her stories).
Her stories remind me of the fact that every moment carries an offer of actual grace...an opportunity to cooperate with God's will...even when cooperation is painful.
Aquinas teaches us that suffering itself becomes redemptive only when it is freely borne in charity and conformity to God’s will, so that the patient soul participates, by grace, in the merit of Christ’s Passion.
Anyway, maybe reading some O'Connor wiil remind us to suffer more patiently.

Still in the hospital. Waiting on the infectious disease specialist to decide which antibiotics to give me for my UTI. I’m still really weak with low blood pressure.

I’ve been really going through it on multiple levels for a month or two now. (Physical health is good afaik, so no worries there.) I could use your prayers for wisdom, direction, and divine help.

Attention Catholics: Pick a parish and go there. Register if that's available. Go to Mass there every Sunday. Introduce yourself to the priest.
The "we don't really have a parish, we just kind of move around" is not a long term solution that's good for your spiritual life or that of your family.

The Midwest is the center of thriving faithful Catholicism. We even have Father Mike Schmitz and Bishop Robert Barron!
