The annual Jimmy Buffett show was like an eagerly awaited holiday for us. Family, friends, folks who had never been - we all gathered in the parking lot of the venue hours before, cracked open coolers and partied with complete strangers. It was a ritual. I think my final total was 49 or 50 shows total. Lords knows how many beers that equals. My wife and I got married in Key West and our first dance song was an obscure acoustic number of his called "Nautical Wheelers." My mom's ashes are spread in Cook's Bay on Mo'orea, which was the inspiration for "One Particular Harbour." The family-wide obsession was that unrelenting. Thanks for all the memories, Jimmy. As well as for the times of which I have no memory thanks to the margaritas. "Most mysterious calling harbour So far but yet so near I can see the day when my hair's full gray And I finally disappear"
