🧵THREAD:
The most overlooked aspect of a United Ireland isn't flags, identity or even healthcare.
It's jobs!
Hundreds of thousands of people have built careers around Northern Ireland's place in the UK.
What happens to those careers?
Sinn fein + 5 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Been absolutely useless all year with multiple failures but blocked 30 old blokes down a road illegally after failing to defeat **checks notes** jamie fucking bryson in court.
The mindset of sinn fein voters absolutely baffles me. 🤣
The first test of public opinion since the #Drumcree dispute.

Deirdre Hargey claims she & 70 others were in all in a tiny toilet when Robert McCartney was killed. Now there’s questions about other SF politicians and the circumstances surrounding this murder. How can Nationalists vote for SF? Is this really your values & morals?

I hope unionists are as enthusiastic about voting at the next election as they are about turning up to protests wearing an orange sash. Time will tell.

🛡️ Safer in the Union.
The world is less certain than it has been for a generation. As part of the UK, Northern Ireland has strong and trusted allies 👇
So many people on both sides playing my crowd was bigger than your crowd.
We're regressing dramatically 😅
Sinn Fein members just cant get enough of implementing British rule, even Mary Lou came up from Dublin to get involved 🤭
💥NEW: Mary Lou McDonald - Blame for any strike action in Northern Ireland 'lies at the feet of the British Government'
🎥@sinnfeinireland President @MaryLouMcDonald says the blame for any potential strike action in Northern Ireland lies with the British Government.
🎤She told Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 that the Government's "final offer can't be the final offer."
Her comments come as Secretary of State Sir Chris Bryant meets political party leaders today, with discussions continuing over Stormont's budget crisis.
Executive departments have been operating without an agreed budget since the beginning of the financial year in April and are currently restricted to spending up to 95% of last year's funding.
Ministers in the devolved power-sharing administration insist they cannot agree a budget for 2026/27 without additional financial support from Westminster.
The UK Government has offered an extra £1.5 billion over the next three years in an effort to help balance the books, but Stormont's leaders insist the funding falls short of what is needed.
In response, Sir Chris has criticised what he describes as "irresponsible" overspending by devolved ministers.
More on-air and online.

This tells you everything you need to know. Michelle O’Neill has a PSNI vehicle and could have driven into the police station, but chose to performatively walk in for the invited press. What a surprise. Fake, reckless and divisive behaviour once again.
People are sick of this behaviour.
Yet on important issues - not to be found. Tomorrow we have an opportunity and offer to meet with the Secretary of State and the Chief Secretary of the Treasury on budget and she has refused to attend that meeting.
This is not responsibility, that is recklessness and an abdication of her role.

50 years ago, Dave Allen told a joke about newspaper readers in 1976, it would become more famous 11 years after this on Yes, Prime Minister in 1987.

Linfield vs Glentoran on Boxing Day, 1995.
The orange ball burst so they were forced to use a white ball 🤣
Just in the car and put on the city psg game on Talksport....Andy Gray on commentary is brilliant!
Brings back all those sky sports memories!
Can we just sack all current politicians and ban them from ever running for office again to just get a complete fresh batch?
Sick of listening to the lot of them at this point.
Brutal timing for this 🙈
We have launched a recruitment campaign for Student Officers who want to make a difference.

Ireland's Future states: "We support respectful political and civic dialogue that embraces everyone on our shared island." Now currently ranting on Twitter about the B Specials and RUC like every other angry troll with a picture of Bobby Sands on his bio. They're finished.

Terry, no one doubts or refutes the fact that Northern Ireland was an inequitable place and that institutional discrimination existed. But the exact issues you identify were largely resolved either before the conflict started or within the first year or two of the conflict. Universal adult suffrage for local elections was agreed in April 1969 (before the troubles started) and enacted that November. The B-Specials were disbanded in 1970. Public housing was removed from local political control and placed under the Northern Ireland Housing Executive in 1971, with a needs-based points system. It's also worth looking at how housing discrimination existed in Nationalist dominated councils as well. Local government boundaries and structures were reformed by 1973, ending previous gerrymandering. Stormont was suspended in 1972.
The simple fact is, that of the over 1,700 people murdered by the IRA about 90% were murdered after those genuine issues were resolved. The cause of equality and rights was never the justification, it was the exploited pretext for their own campaign of anti-democratic terror all for them to eventually accept the existence of Northern Ireland, to accept the right of self-determination for the majority, and to accept a role in governing and leading a state they tried to destroy. Thousands of people dead, families destroyed, cities and towns (including your own) devastated, generations traumatised, for absolutely nothing. Violence was never the answer.
I'm no Orange Order member or supporter but they are symbolic of the protestant/unionist faith, culture, traditions & people
My issue is not that the parade didnt happen (PC should never have permitted it without resident buy in) it was the attitude towards us in the aftermath🧵
There will be time to reflect on what happened, but I suspect many ordinary unionists, not just hardline loyalists, saw something in the reaction of nationalism and wider Ireland that deeply unsettled them.
