Nurse dies fighting an occupying force in her own neighborhood over a noise complaint in the Land of the Free™
Police arrived at a noise complaint call for loud music and foot-chased Maley Ross. During the chase, she turned around and shot and killed the cop chasing her. She was killed by the next cop. She had been a registered nurse.

On 04/01/2026 at approximately 11 p.m., Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Reserve at Gulf Hills Apartments at 6721 Washington Avenue in St. Martin after a complaint involving loud music. Deputy Michael Jimerson, 61, was the first deputy to arrive.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said 27-year-old Maley Elizabeth Ross was armed with a handgun and ran from Jimerson. Jimerson pursued her on foot. MBI said Ross and Jimerson then exchanged gunfire. Ross was killed at the scene. Jimerson was shot in the chest and transported to Ocean Springs Hospital, where he died shortly after midnight.
Jimerson was wearing a body camera during the encounter. MBI took over the investigation and said its findings would be submitted to the Mississippi Attorney General's Office.
Ross was a registered nurse. About 35 hours before the shooting, she appeared before the Mississippi Board of Nursing over allegations involving professional conduct and compliance with requirements imposed on her nursing license. The board revoked her license on March 31.
Ross was born 02/10/1999 in Waynesboro, Mississippi. She graduated from Thomasville High School in 2017, later attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and became a registered nurse after passing the NCLEX in 2024.
