2/6 Previously, bacterial virulence was thought to reflect the content of core virulence genes as well as the presence of accessory virulence genes, which account for virulence heterogeneity.
Really cool. I’m still so puzzled that our understanding of fungi-NK interactions is so poor. Congrats to the authors!

PIs (especially senior PIs) in academia having to write DEIs statements, stating on their Twitter bios how diversity and inclusion matters to them so much, and then supporting the most openly LGBTQphobic scientists without even blinking twice. You are part of the problem.

Such a cool study 🤩
New paper out @Nature - why are males more vulnerable to severe infections (ex acute #COVID), while females suffer more from autoimmunity (SLE, MS etc and also #LongCovid)? sex chromosomes or hormones?
Here we studied adaptation of human immune systems to gender-affirming testosterone treatment in trans-men assigned female sex at birth: nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

C-type lectin receptors are amazing! We have just discovered that MICL recognises NETs and regulates the fine balance between protection from infection and exacerbated autoimmunity. This study was only possible with an amazing team of collaborators.

Today we start our journey to spatially decode the lung tumour microenvironment. The PhD in my group will focus on cancer-immune metabolic aspects.
Very much looking forward to collaborate with such a large fantastic EU network 🙏🏻
SPACETIME project starts today! 15 partners from 7 different European countries will work on spatially decoding lung cancer 🫁🔬. Today, we honor the World Lung Cancer Day and commit to do our best for patients! #SPACETIME #WorldLungCancerDay #EUfunded #HaDEA #EUMissionCancer🇪🇺

Biggest paper yet from the lab out now in @ImmunityCP! It is a massive #openscience resource on #tissueTregs, and what makes #Tregs tick in the #tissues. Spoiler-alert: Tissue Tregs are really different from what we all thought. 🧵 1/21
